My 3 amigos are on again....

In order to determine which wheel is at fault (in the absence of hawkeye) I presume if I do the following...

Jack up one wheel at a time.

Put it in first and gently let clutch out.

The jacked up wheel will start spinning and register a speed reading on the speedo. Lets say a max of 10mph before the car jumps off the jack.

The faulty wheel sensor or hub as it spins will register 0mph.

Would I be right?

There are other reasons for the 3 amigos beside a dodgy hub. The only sure fire and easiest way to find out is a code reader; Nanocom, Hawkeye, Testbook, Lynx or your local LR stealer, your local indie garage might be able to read the codes .... for a price. Sorry.
Please don't be tempted to try one of the cheap ones you'll see on ebay, they don't work on the Disco and you'll only be disappointed.

As said there can be many reasons for 3 amigos, a fact is that ONLY if the ABS warning stays on alone after re-ignition and goes out when the vehicle exceeds 10mph or the 3 amigos ar coming back it's certain that is sensor/hub related, or if the red brake(handbrake) warning is on too beside the amigos.

if it's caused by worn hub your test will be irrelevant cos it throws the amigos only above 10mph

better find somebody with tester... or if you seriously suspect a sensor measure theyr's resistance, it should be between 950-1100 ohm that's all you can do
