I have dreaded 3 amigo's again stuck new hub on about 2 years ago as wheel bearing collapsed all was well until a few months ago lights came on showing erratic sensor then after awhile no reading from sensor so replaced sensor and today reading erratic sensor again when I plug diagnostic in and read live data it seems fine as it is reading speed from the sensor. back a few months ago diagnostics said stuck abs valve but it hasen't showed since. Just wondering if faulty shuttle valve could be causing this but only showing it as abs sensor fault.

When you get sensor SIGNAL related code it's rarely the sensor, for that you'll get open or closed circuit, sensor signal codes are generated by play in the reluctor ring and new quality hub is the cure, as long as you dont watch the live data for longer period to catch an erratic reading you can think it's ok while it's not...be aware, there are cheap hubs on the market with the wrong number of teeth on the ring from factory which will mix up the system.

Seemed to work for quite some time before fault started so I think it's a good match no play felt in hub just wondering about previous stuck abs valve showing although cleared and not come back on fault list it maybe a fault further up than the sensor. Thanks for the reply.

Just up date with abs fault. Seems to be a regular intermittent fault as it resets once engine switched off and comes back after 10-15 minutes of driving. One thing puzzles me when I swapped sensor there was 2 thin spacers under original sensor sort of washer thickness my next option is to take one out as original hub didn't have any to see if reducing gap slightly helps.

Not sure about how sensor works on D2, but on my BMW the sensor read the peaks and troughs on the reluctor ring, a type of castleated ring. On The BM the troughs tend to fill with rust giving a false reading. The quick fix was to put a washer under the sensor so that it lifted it up and think that the depth of the reluctor ring was correct. This in turn stopped the warning light flashing and the abs from activating now and again. Maybe someone has done the washer thing on your car.

Thanks for reply. I replaced hub about 2 years ago it came with sensor so was straight from supplier it is reading speed on the wheel sensor but I gather there maybe slight fluctuation with the sensor hoping for dry day tomorrow to get the axle stands under it.

should only be an o ring try it as such

If the hub was some cheap one those 2 years is more than they used to last, actually time is irrelevant, how many miles it ran that's important, cheap hubs are starting to fail after 3-4K miles tops

It's done about 20k with that hub seems to settle down but abs light went off on a diamond shape speed hump I have been over other speed humps and it's fine. even At low speed this hump gives the wheels abit of a thump. switched it off its fine again

If it keeps going off I will remove the spacer next time I do the brake pads as all the ones I take off don't have it.
Car passed mot yesterday abs light stayed off big relief. Thanks for all your suggestions and comments.
