How long should it take for a Disco 3.9 V8 to get up to operating temperature? And where would this be on the gauge?

I can drive for 20 minutes and it won't be at the 1/4 mark on the temp gauge.

It only really gets near the middle on a motorway run.

I'm wondering if my stat is stuck open?

My previous experience of the RV8 you couldn't keep it cool enough!

That's it 1/4-1/3mark just on the bottom of the temp symbol, takes 5 mins at idle to do that this morning with frost everywhere or 1 mile down the road and stops there even on a hot day at + 25dec C, always been the same from day one, even with a/c on that's when the engine bay does get hot.

It's within the 'normal' range on the gauge in the picture. It could be that there is a slightly cooler stat fitted than standard but I wouldn't be worried if mine consistently ran like that. Worth changing the stat if the fuel consumption is not where you think it should be.

I have a different gauge to that. I'll take a pic after a bit of driving later. It is graduated like the fuel gauge but rotated 90 degress.

It's the fuel consumption that seem a bit low, even for this.

Am I right in thinking the ECU ignores the lambda sensors until the engine is at 70 degrees? If so, and my stat is wrong or stuck open, that could possibly explain it.

Your temp gauge signal is not read by the ECU. The efi loom has a separate water temp sensor.

Stat yes, sender looks right (single male spade): but tbh never needed to unscrew one. Your local Indy should be able to get these next day. Same goes for auto parts on the thermostat
