3.6L V8 Diesel: High pressure Pump Failure

Hi All,
Wondering if there is any information out there on this issue.

My Rangie (2007 Vogue) has had two pumps in twelve months, both under warranty (so far). THis is the high pressure pump on the front of the engine. According to the dealer the coil in the solenoid that controls the fuel volume valve has failed and since the piump is a non service item the whole unit has been replaced.

Does anyone have any idea,

1. if the above is true (i.e. cant be repaired) or,
2. what they cost new (appafrently they are NZ$6500.00 here ) or,
3. Are reconditioned units available
