Right,

Tyres.... (Yes i have searched)

I think i have made my decision. Im going to go for 265 75 16 BFG AT on my D90 TD5 on Boost alloys (going from 235 85 16 General TRs)

It was between the 235 and 265, but think i will go for the 265s, unless i get any adverse opinions etc.

My research suggets they will fit, possibly with the steering stops needing some adjustment.

All i want to know is has anyone changed from the 235 to 265 and have they noticed any real world fuel consumption drop. I know in theory that there will be a drop as the rolling resistance will be greater, but is it noticable in the reel world. I spoke to a guy at a tyre place and he had them and said no,but in the same sentence said he didnt really monitor his consumption!! I also notice that the diameter of the 265s are slightly smaller, so again in the real world would the engine be running at higher revs, again increasing fuel consumption?

I know tyres have been done to death, but been searching for a long time and cant find the answer im looking for from the real world so to speak.

My best price is £585 fitted for the above tyres, hence why i want to be sure before i part with my hard earned!!

Also if anyone has any pics, that would be good.

Cheers

ah ok, you got any rough figures? Im currently getting 32mpg from my standard 90 with the TRs. Dont really want it to drop much as i communte 80 miles a day.

when I first got my landy it was weighing in at about 2 ton and running on 235 bfg muds. (2 had approx 5mm and 2 were pretty much as new). I was getting about 30mpg on a run and about 25mpg around town.

It now weighs about 2.5 tons and runs on 265 insa special tracks. (all have about 20mm left on them). I rekon I'm getting about 25-27mpg on a run and 22-25mpg around town. I tend to have my engine running on tickover a lot due to powering the urn in the back too. I'm on the Isle of Wight at the momemnt and when I filled up yesterday I'd done 265 miles around the island on 55 litres of fuel. That equates to 22mpg.

cheers mate, thats useful stuff.

I guess i should be expecting upto 10% drop then. Bit more than i was hoping for. Bugger!!

I can't see your mileage dropping by that much tbh. I rekon you should still get similar figures to what you had previously. I rekon you'll only lose about 2mpg at the most.

If you want to see piccies of 265's on my 110 then just click on my album in my profile.

nice pics mate, looks like some good lanes. They look bloody wide, but nice.

Think i will try and get them ordered tomorrow, and just hope it doesnt drop too much.

Cheers for your help

dont think you'll notice a massive drop, I went from 7.50 ATs to 265/75 MTs and havent noticed a massive difference.

Although I am considering possibly swapping the transfer box for a disco or changing for 33" next time round. The gearing is a bit on the low side for dual carriageways
