Hello,

I have a question regarding the discovery 200tdi fitted to my 1986 90. I have standard 90 axles with the standard 90 transfer box and a standard LT77. The tyres I have fitted are 16x235x85, so quite tall. If I am driving my 90 at 60mph, roughly what RPM would it be doing? I drove to and from Ipswich the other night doing 85mph most of the way. I could hear that the engine was revving relatively high but I have absolutely no idea what RPM it was actually doing. Can anyone give me an idea? What can the 200tdi actually rev to before it is restricted? I've never had a taco!

Thanks,
-Tom

Anything over 4K is a bit pushing it for a tdi tho

@ 65 mph before I changed my tranny to a disco one running 85's , my tach read 3500rpm abouts . with a disco tranny it reads 2600 rpm at 60 odd . Defo worth fitting a disco tranny tho , yeah you loose a some torque but lower rpms = better mph :) happy days .

That is quite a useful tool. I've got 35's on my disco and it bogs down something chronic when starting off, its top speed just dies at 50 mph. The front out put bearing on the transfer box is as sloppy as you like so I am looking to swap out the transfer box for a 1.4 or 1.6. Using those figures would it be accurate to say I could divide the revs by 35 multiply by 31 to give me the revs on a 35" tyre or is there a more complicated calculation required based on circumferences etc?

Firstly measure your tyres forget that they say 35 what they say is irrelevant.

Measure the actual height would guess circa 33 ish and head to Ashcroft transmissions website click on their ratio calculator and input your measurements and ratios

But honestly forget whatnot says on the side of the tyre they are nowhere
Near accurate

Jai

Ah OK I shall give that a bash. In the meantime I've landed a transfer box for pennies from a 110 so I will bash that on and see what the real life difference is.
