200Tdi Disco - What Stereo?

Hey there, does anyone know of a stereo that fits into a 200Tdi disco? the hole is the right size but the depth leaves the head unit sticking out by about 1/2 inch. frustrating......

Any Ideas?

I changed my head unit not long ago in my 200, it was tight with the leads at the bottom, but you just have to tuck them out the way round the side and force the bastard down, it can be done.

Keep trying!
 
mmmmmm I was thinking of getting my old Sony Walkman tape player and sellotaping it to the dash with some speakers, but thought better of it........

No seriously, I know it's an asthetic thing but it's bugging the hell out of me.
 
Do you have an ISO connector on the back of yours? It might be getting in the way, or like others have said, the wires need tucking away. I remember mine used to stick out a bit from one side because the aerial lead was in the way.
 
As already said a normal sized unit will fit, its just the cables jamming up the back, use a steel rule or simialr to keep them to the side of the unit as you fit it.

Over the years a previous owner may have cut the connector off and used connector blocks this may be why your unit is jamming, do away with it and buy a new ISO connector and solder the ends and cover with heat shrink.
 
Yep had the same prob wiv my 200 only last week, i cut the connectors off and put some bullet connectors on (way to much wires) then undid the 2 screws at the front, under the rubber mat, pushed stereo in, then screwed it back up just !
 
I have a dashpod that sits on to of the dash, this has the radio/cd, three air loocker switches and the CB.

I put three gauges in place of the original radio.

I know I know, this thread is useless without pics!

I threw the last one in to show I'd spent time painting the original gauge needles the same colours the the aux ones 8>)

leave it sat out that bit! then put summat to cover up the metal frame. i got some black plastic over mine

i'v seen proper adapters though that allow it to sit out that little bit more and look real tidy, cant remember where.
 
Be a little bit conservative with high power stereos in this space as they can overheat even to the point the CD's buckle!
