Hi Guys,

I have purchased a Discovery 2, 2004 with 206000 miles on the clock (was i mad?).
Everything apart from the aircon seems fine clutch, engine, gearboxes, electrics Suspension (rear airbags) and bodywork etc etc.

Only had it since Saturday and had one simple coolant leak that's already fixed.

I love it already as it brings back memories of my old M reg 300 tdi that i had for 5 years. many years ago which i have always regretted selling.

What i want to ask is, what do i need to look at replacing before it goes "POP"

Many thanks in advance

Andy from Hull

Hi Andy from Hull
Stan from Hull here, well from Hull a long time ago!
There is lots to look at but honestly, if its got to 200k plus chances are a lot of the usual stuff will have been done! If not it prolly wouldn't still be on the road.
Common stuff is the exhaust manifold warping, the rear of the chassis rusting through, the oil pump bolt dropping out, loads of electrical problems, leaking sunroofs, others will add to the list!
Best of luck with it!:):):):)

Hi there Stanley,

I have just spoken to Land rover Services (independent garage in Hull) and they know my car as the guy i bought it off took it there for its MOT's for the last 10 years so they know everything there is to know.
The guys words when i told him what the reg was and who i bought it from, was "that's a really tidy truck that" and asked me how i got him to part with it?

He said he's been trying to get it off him for years.

So as you say i think it's probably had the problem issues sorted. (i hope).

Do you not live in hull any more then?

Andy

Nope, as you can see from my thingy top right in my posts, East Dorset now. And half the year normally in France, Brexit permitting. But my Bruv moved back there a long time ago and lives off the Anlaby Road. I lived on Vicky Ave from birth till 1963, so 8 years. I loved the place as a kid and my bruv still loves it. Have a grand-daughter who went there to uni and loved it too until she got attacked early one morn and only just got away.:(:(:(
She also thought the peeps there were just so friendly.
Good luck with the truck mate. If yoiu get a good one they really are good. but like you I love the D1 too, which is why I hung on to my 1998 one and then bought another D1 V8 with lpg, which i must get sorted someday!
Best of luck with it mate!:):):):)
