Hi I'm new,
Problems with Auto Gearbox. 100k miles, diesel, vehicle from new, no tow pack, no hard work, no history other than a taxi driver hit the back of it one night at a hotel, then had a load of fuel system issues, the garage doing the door repairs let the fuel tank empty and what woe with the fuel system!, with damn bad mechanics, resulted in 30% loss of power which hasn't come back, guy remapped the ECU.
XYZ switch being playing up for 4-5 years, every time I start in reverse S/M lights flash and goes into
limp mode. Power off and on restarts no probs.
Came back from Spain last week drove A55 to Anglesey from John Lennon.
Got within 30 miles from home 70mph, revs jumped up and down, looked behind could see oil on back door.
Pulled in, stopped, powered down, then on again, engine revving no drive. ATF on the floor.
AA to service station, AA man found ATF hose at radiator had come off.
Recharged 4 liters of ATF. Problem when refilling could only select R,N, P none of the Forward gears could
be selected. AA man checked ECU didn't get the codes, cleared them, went through refill procedure but no luck with forward gears. Beeping lights flashing. Could not get anymore fluid into gearbox.
Reverse no problems but selecting drive, engine revs moves forward very slowly.
Towed back to local mechanic, he took the sump off, its clean no dirt, magnet clear.
Thinks we should go for a new Gearbox, he not an Auto specialist and there are none that I can find yet locally, can anyone help please!
