2003 Freelander engine code help!!!!

I found that the issue is the input speed sensor. Looking online for the part but can't find one that is sure match. Does anyone know the part number for it?

Also quick question. Do you mind sharing how you found out it was the vehicle speed sensor so other night learn from this ?

I had to eventually take it to a local shop who cleared all codes that was caused by the diff mount. They then drove it until the fault code was back and showed as input speed sensor. This is the only shop in my area that has experience with land rover so he seamed to know what he was talking about.

What was the exact code given?

Was it:
P0720 Vehicle speed sensor

Here is a nice picture of where this sensor is inside the transmission.

Wolkswagen 09A is the same transmission (some outside housing differences)
and they call this part:
Vehicle Speed Sensor G68

Usually only transmission shops will do this work. Do you plan on doing this yourself ?

I was going to try it myself. Does anyone have a diagram of where this sensor is located and how to replace it?

Just outta curiosity, is this the same hippo from this forum.
I met a guy in Winnipeg who was a rover tech in the UK (not sure how credible he was but seemed to know my car somewhat) that told me about the Jatco solenoids failing. Im having some possible tranny issues that happen occasionally, would that be a constant hard shifting or could he be correct that the odd lock up and release while driving may be from failing solenoids. Is this a tough job? Tranny drop involved?

Do you mind starting your own thread about what transmission problems you are seeing ? I find it makes it easier to track.
