Hi all,
This is my first post so be gentle with me.
I've only had my RR for about a month now and I love it!
I used to have a Mitsubishi Pajero 3.5 24 valve which was a bit of a monster and after that my new RR 2.5 diesel was to say the least a bit on the slow side!!!
I went to Bristol last week (from Chichester) and found it hard work to maintain 75 on the motorway and did about 26 to the gallon.
This week I bought a power chip from 'Diesel Bob' for about £280 it took me about half an hour to fit it and off I went to Coventry.
Well how can I put this without swearing? It's like someone fitted a MUCH bigger engine while I wasn't looking! It pulls like a train!!! I romped up the motorway at 80mph with the cruise on without any trouble on the hills and returned 34 to the gallon!
I've got no idea how Diesel Bob's chip can perform this alchemy but I can't recommend it enough.
Money well spent...

I bet your 34MPG was the reading off the message centre, if you do a proper brim to brim check you will no doubt find it's using a bit more:rolleyes:

I used to work for EcuTek who make the best reflash tools for Subaru and Evos.. so I am very wary of the claims of more power and more mpg.

My P38 is untuned.. I'd like to try one of these boxes, but I don't fancy paying 300 quid in case I don't like it or the consumption is terrible.

I reckon the PSI Power box is great, adequate power and my long term brim to brim averages are 24/25mpg around and about and up to 30mpg cruising on the autoroute. I even averaged 21mpg with the caravan touring the UK last year:D

Can i take it that was a tour of Lincolnshire?

Those are great consumption figures.

We get 23-24 around and about, short trips.

On our long drive from the UK to her last month, got 19 with a big ifor williams trailer on the back, and 60 - 70 mph.

Nice area of the country, with lots of hills, so you did very well with that sort of average mpg. Once a Tyke always a Tyke, wot hey theer lad.

Ee bah gum, a've bin reet surprised by the fuel consumption, I did find that at a steady 80mph on the autoroute with the caravan I got it down to 17mpg, but stck at 60/65mph and it's great. My 2.5TD Hyundai Galloper (Pajero copy) used to just manage 20mpg around and about and 16mpg on the autoroute, with he caravan it could barely manage 65mph and turned in 12mpg, worse than a V8 but without the fun:eek:

I hear what your saying and I'll be honest I did get those figures from the message centre but to be honest it was the performance I was more impressed with the mpg was a bit of a bonus. So I checked the mileage and the fuel receipt and it worked out at a shade under 27 mpg which may not put me in hyper miler club but compared to what I've been getting out of my old Pajero I'm over the feckin moon with my new toy!!!!
Can't wait until we go to France in the summer and try her out on those lovely roads!!!

Does the message centre MPG agree with the brim to brim manual calculation?

Hi Golan, I used to live in West Sussex, in France for the last 10 years, if you are passing Poitiers and fancy a cuppa, call in.:D

Really what part of Sussex did you live in?
I have a friend who lives in Argenton Chateau which I think isn't a million miles from you so I might just take you up on that offer of a cuppa!!!:D

We're near Selsey on the coast. It used to be a nice little village but it's grown into a town and what with all the caravans in the holidays. I don't think it'll be long before we move somewhere else, France has come up more than a few times!

I used to have a sailing boat in Chichester harbour, just up the road, I remember the traffic jams!

It's a good life here in France, relaxed and easy going, no agression not to mention the empty roads. Taxes are lower too if you are retired and not too bad if you run a one man business.

Access to the rest of Europe is easy too.:D
