Hello Freelanders from Pete in Bavaria!
I joined this forum about a year ago when I first got my 2.0L XEdi (early 2000 model) and drove it home to Pilsach in Bavaria for almost a years almost trouble free driving...
I drove to work yesterday with no problems and at the end of the day, jumped back into the car started it and it cut out after 2 seconds. Set the key back to 0 and tried again - same problem, and again, and again (10 plus times) The engine always starts and sounds ok but 2 seconds then stalls. The warning lights show up as they should at key pos. 2 and go out as they should (except the HDC yellow warning which has shown up for the last month or so) When the engine stalls there are no extra warning lights showing. Car got towed to my local independant garage. He has no Land Rover experience but thinks it's maybe the key fob/immobiliser. I have not got a second fob but I always thought if the immobiliser was active the engine would not get as far as starting in the first place. The red immo LED on the dash goes out as it should when the car is unlocked and key put in the ignition with fob hanging next to it.
Any ideas guys and gals? I'm desperate 'cos if I have to resort to a stealer here in Bavaria it'll cost me as much as the car to repair it. :-(
Thanks for reading this short novel!
Pete
