hi

after my 1st year with my freelander just want to share some problems i'v had, maybe good for anyone looking to purchase.

99xei petrol model purchased without any history and 1 years MOT. £1500. 1 months part warranty only. not bad for the price i thought:rolleyes:

after 1st week distinct rattle from underneath front side. Broken exhaust bracket rewelded. Free.
2 months loss of coolant, pressure test revealed leaking radiator. Cost to replace £95 (re-furb)
4 months loss of fluid again this time HG:( changed timing belt etc.. same time. total garage cost £700.
7 months, changed Air filter, HT leads, Distributor cap, Spark plugs and pollen fiilter total cost DIY £70 noticed big change in fuel consumption with the air filter and sparks etc... being changed extra 20-30 miles to tanks urban.
10 months in prep for MOT, rear brake overaul new shoes and drum DIY £40. also new discs and pads diy. £50.
new lower suspension arms as bushes worn, replace anti roll link also parts cost £95 job pending
outstanding work rear winscreen heater defunct.
possible oil leak under engine bay, being monitored.
water in rear compartment, lid removed still damp

plus side, great fun to drive specially in the bad winter, fuel consumption not bad since servicing the basics and the right foot getting lighter on the pedal, good boot for the dog. rear leg space good for the kids.

keep it for another year? you betcha. see what happens in the MOT.:p
