So I'm having a play with my old veg oil kit I have. According to HMRC I'm allowed to use up to 2500 litres of oil a year without paying duty on it.
I've diesel line heaters and a filter heater.

I don't expect the Lucas CAV pump will like it much, if I keep it thinned out 50/50 with diesel for the time being (and maybe a splash of unleaded) it might help. perhaps December is the wrong time to have a play, but heyho.

Just wondered if anybody has any experience with veg in the 19j. Mines a 1989 model so slightly more robust. (only slightly)

as a note I have a 200tdi from an old disco waiting if it all goes horribly wrong.

They do say lucas cav pumps will fail if run on veg but years ago (when new veg oil was cheap ) i ran and old turbo diesel peugeot 205 with lucas pump on straight veg for over a year and the pump survived

If you dont cars about the engine and you can save money running veg its worth a shot

That's quite low so you may be alright.
It's the first cold start of the day that will break the pump and I can't see line heaters helping at that point.
A kettle of boiling water over the pump before starting would help more.

I've been doing it for years on my 19j but got a bosch pump on mine bit dodgy starting this time of the year though I bung a bit of 2stroke in with mine just in case

Ive ran mine for years on a veg/diesel mix, it loves it, its quieter, more power, smoother, and I get more MPG. Ive got a knackered worn out old cav pump on mine.
