Im looking to upgrade my headlamps but theres a vast variety to choose from and im wondering what are the best ones to get?? Been looking at halogen units as i want something brighter, but dont want to be taken to the cleaners!

Any advice would be great

My mate recently fitted Halogen lamps and bowls from Bolt-on-bits to his 94 Defender. The job was quite easy (actually easier than I expected) and took less than 30 mins per side. It made a fantastic difference both to the look of the car and the improvement to night driving.

The old bowls and rims were really rusty too so it's an all round improvement in my opinion. Here is what he bought < 7" Crystal GLASS Headlamp/headlights & Bowls Defender | eBay > there are also standard headlamps available here < Halogen Headlamps & Bowls LandRover Defender 90/110 NEW | eBay > which are a bit cheaper.

I have the Wipec Crystal lights in mine and they offer very good light output, mine aren't the sealed beam units but use a modern halogen bulb...

Thats what im after really, although I have seen Angel Eye halogens on the market which look quite smart, but then again, I dont want it to look too much like a pimp-wagon!!

I've got the Wipac Crystal unit's with Ring 120% brighter bulbs, I drive a lot at night and they work better than most

The other question is that ive seen some online and they say that the units are not E marked, but will pass the MOT? Just want to clarify so I stay on the right side of the law!

Yes and no, without an E mark they are not UK tested and approved but most MOT centers will just check beam pattern and intensity, they rarely check for an E mark...

Got Powerful UK angel eye's on mine with Osram Nightbreaker +'s (Can't recommend the Nightbreakers enough) They are plastic bowls so they don't rust and the LED angel eye looks cool at night, only problem is thet are not 'E' marked. Saying that I have never had a problem with the rozzers and they are a damn site more legal than putting gay HID lights in a halogen light enclosure
