If you are looking at this then you probably know the general stuff about these cars, so I will mostly keep this to the specifics.
1990 Vogue SE with the 3.9 V8. It is black with grey leather interior.
The good:
- runs and drives nicely; engine temp comes up quickly then stays rock solid where it should be. Has never once failed to start, even when I've left it untouched for 3 weeks during the winter.
- the previous owner had £3000 worth of welding and brake overhaul work done. It is solid underneath in all the important places (chassis cross members, inside rear arches etc) and the ABS system works very well.
- windows all work, mirrors mostly work, though the drivers side glass is not very firmly attached to the carrier.
- electric seats both work.
- as well as the work the previous owner had done, in my care it has had all the following replaced: dizzy cap, rotor arm, thermostat, oil and filter, springs and dampers all round (HD springs, Monroe dampers), steering box, OSF damper turret (new NSF will come with the car but the original one is in good condition still so I didn't bother replacing it), new NSF wheel bearing, tow bar with single point towing electrics (which actually work) and fog lights.
- being a Vogue SE it came with the electric tilt and slide sunroof. Being a product of BL in the 80s / early 90s, this quickly failed and started leaking. I have replaced the roof panel with a non sunroof one, so it neither leaks nor squeaks now, and it saves a bit of weight thus increasing the handling qualities of this finely tuned racing machine...
- somewhere I have a set of OE rear suspension bushes and a fuel filter. If I can find these I will include them in the sale.
The bad:

- A/C doesn't work. This has been low on my to do list so I've not bothered to look into it. When you switch the A/C on at the heater control the engine speed increases slightly, so the car is at least aware the A/C system is there.
- heater fan only works at full speed. This a common issue on these cars due to the stupid location of the fan speed resistor that causes it to go rusty and fail. A new part is about £50, but is a pig to change.
- steering wheel and steering column are slightly wonky (as in when driving straight ahead, the wheel will be slightly off to the left)
- rear tyres could do with replacing soon. They have a reasonable tread depth left on them but they look pretty old and seem to vibrate a bit when driving at motorway speed so are possibly a bit misshapen.
- a lot of the interior trim is loose and rattly. The stuff that isn't loose and rattly is being held in place with blu-tac.
- the headlining was pretty grim when I bought it so I just removed it. I still have the fibreglass headlining panel itself (sans fabric covering) but it is for the sunroof model rather than the non sunroof that I have changed it for.
- the roof panel is dark green rather than black and the lacquer is in rubbish condition.
- rear upper tailgate is an aftermarket one and looks a bit beaten up. One of the gas strut mounts has broken off but replacements are cheap. Doesn't latch properly so the previous owner screwed some catches on to the lower tailgate to hold it together.
- central locking doesn't work. Don't know why. Car has separate keys for doors and ignition.
- sound system barely works. could probably do with replacing the whole lot
The ugly:
- some rust on the NSF inner wing. Not catastrophic and easily repairable.
- bonnet has a rust scab on the OS leading edge.
- lower tailgate has a small rust patch just above the rear bumper
- rear bumper has what appears to be some grotty over spray mixed with rust patches on it. I am pretty sure the bumper itself is solid and would be fine after stripping back and re painting.
- upper windscreen frame is scabby underneath the screen seal strip. Doesn't leak and the metal is still pretty solid; it doesn't leak and the windscreen is still solidly in place.
In short, it's a slightly scruffy but entirely functional classic range rover. It looks reasonably smart with a clean but is certainly not perfect.
