Lets see if i post this in the right place now lol:

Hello LandyZone,

I am 17 and quite keen on getting a lond rover series 3 as a first car had my mind set on one for years now. So got my dad to ring up and get quotes ranged from £4K-10k .. WTF

Where do you suggest i look to get insurace a lot cheaper? is there a specific year of landrover i should look at as well?

Surely there must be a way of getting cheaper insurance than 4K ... my dad called shearwater they were the most expensive.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Romeo

Try Adrian Flux to as well as Highway performance as they may be cheaper.

I had the same problem - not so much to do with the speed the Series 3 goes, but more along the lines the damage of one can do was the reason I was given for high insurance at the time.

Had to settle for a Vauxhall Nova Saloon for my first car, not a landy but it got me three years no claims to help when the time comes.

If its a van type, you can get pretty cheap insurance with Aviva. For a station wagon (like my D90) you're gonna pay loads (I am 19 now but was driving my Defender just after I passed my test when I turned 18). I am with Flux and I am paying £1.4k for my modified 90. Half the price of what it was when it was my first year..... It't ridiculous.

If you can wait 12 months, your premium will go down without you having insured, or even driven, anything in the meantime because you'll have had 1 year's "experience".

Which is pants. What's the use of a licence without a vehicle to drive?

If there's a good broker in your town, drop in when they're quiet and have a chat. They may know if there's a particular variant or group of years that are cheaper to insure, even if it means finding a 2.6 pickup.

Depends on where you live but i live in the highlands of scotland and aviva gave me a series 3 quote for a 18 year old first time driver of £665 which sounded good. I dont known about any where else though.
