Hey,

Long time lurker, soon to be contributor with a bit of query. If it's covered under a different thread, apologies, but I couldn't find it.

Having issues with new purchase: 1998 110 has an intermittent fault on starting, turns over fine but won't ignite. Car has some 'interesting' attempts at wiring, shall we say. I suspect the following, and can isolate/identify as follows:

Fuses - ruin fingers removing and checking all for breaks
Fuel shut-off solenoid - hook up positive terminal and energise the noid, feel for click, means it's fine (check injector while at pointy end of vehicle).
Battery - check voltage, overnight voltage drop due to cold weather may trip immobiliser, shut-off noid not energising?
Immobiliser - no idea how to diagnose
Wiring: immobiliser to fuel shut-off - check for breaks with multimeter
Wiring: immobiliser stalk to immobiliser box - check for breaks with multimeter

Not sure if there's anything else to it really. Yesterday I noticed the glow plug light no longer comes on at ignition position, could this be a sign that the dash wiring is garbage? Could be the cause of both faults as the immobiliser stalk is a 2-prong touch fork type (not a button remote) and is very rattle'y.

Would be appreciated any comments, insults, sarcasm, landy jest...etc.
