I picked up my 110 CSW 1997 300tdi about 2 weeks ago. Found it local to me and thought it looked ok for the money. Chassis looks ok had rear cross member replaced last year.
I got the timing belt changed as not sure when it was last done and thought better be safe.
The truck came with 12 months MOT so thought it should be ok re brakes ect. Well
I had thought it was the cross plys that made driving interesting however this weekend on braking I was getting dragged to the right. I did some reading and thought should check the bearings, all 4 wheels have a wobble so thought I would have a look and replace if needed.
Tonight it looked positive as I started with the rear. on removing the locking washer there was louds of fresh red grease but as this was removed and I got the bearing out what did I find cooper slip had been used. The out bearing looked ok but the inner was shot. how need to knock out the bearing race but its a bit late.
so how an it have got through the MOT?
It would be nice to get it back on the road ASAP
