hi could anyone tell me if a td5 chassie is the same as a 300tdi chassie as i need to replace my 1994 station wagon chassie and have seen a galv td5 110 chassie for sale but dont know if they have the same engine mounts or if anything else is different any help would be very greatful thanks

hi thanks for that thought so its on ebay auction just come on today so dont know how much untill end but needed to know if it was the same

there is more to change than just the engine mounts , fuel tank mounts, radiator support, and some exhaust mounts . not too much work but just so you know whats needed

There's a Td5 chassis on eBay fitted with 300tdi mounts for £1099

He says it's date stamped 2007 and plated top and bottom whatever that means, looks like he has 3 of them

I wouldn't buy an old chassis that had been galvanised because they rot from the inside out so you could be buying a shiney one that's rotted from the inside

When you consider the amount of work involved a new one has to be worth the money

You might be better getting one of the puma ones which are normally advertised as 'Buy it Now' for £750. Make all the alterations to the chassis and have it re-galved. Otherwise I'd buy new from a reputable dealer who will put what ever mounts you want on.

Spending a few extra quid now could save you a whole world of pain later.

Can you explain what rot from inside out means never heard that before?

that is not a good way to go, got to sand blast and then go to galvanized
that alone would be about 450quid just for that, add them time and money for mounts and the welding ???????????
Would be cheaper just to buy a galvanized chassis to your person specs, than mess around

I sandblasted my 110 chassis and blew a row of small holes in it, looked fine on the outside but it had rotted inside the chassis rails , not much point in an old chassis that's nice and shiny if it's rusty on the inside
