Hello knowlegable people,

Now tackling the electrics on my 90 TDI (was TD) on a G plate and have two questions if i may?

Firstly, fog light warning (dash) was working now its stopped. Ive changed the bulb behind the dash warning light for one that works and it still doesnt work. It did when i pulled all the light bulbs out to check them all and this one is the only pain if the ass thats doesnt work. Usual lights on main beam etc and the actual fog light at the rear does light up but the warning light doesnt.

lastly, did the Defender 90 have a handbrake warning light?

Thanks

Rich

I have a similar problem with my headlight warning light. the lights work, but the warning light no longer illuminates. I have swapped it for known good bulbs and holders, with no luck. I would be very interested in where the problem lies when you get to the bottom of it to see if mine is the same issue.

As always check the earths, for both the dash and the fuse box, now it's the very damp time of year ...

Yes, I think they should have handbrake / low fluid combined light...

See RAVE for original wiring diagrams, with a 200TDiconversion the wiring may have been changed and a bulkhead swap may have trapped something somewhere ...

Check the bulbs again, whatever blew it may have done it again ?

My 1992 200TDi doesn’t have handbrake warning light. It will when I change to the discovery handbrake.

Dag019, et al,

After 30 mins of tracing wires etc I’ve found the culprit! There’s a break on the actual warning light cluster (copper tracking). soldered a small bridging wire across all working

Looks like that is the next thing to check on mine then. Something to keep me busy over the weekend.

Right pain the ass - i used a single strip of copper to bridge across. Be careful you dont spend too long on the board or it'll melt. Failing that you can pick them up for about £20 - 30

I have a different problem!

The handbrake warning light remains on unless I physically push the lever back half an inch against the 'off' stop.

The brake works normally.

Where is the switch and is it easy to reset?

Thanks

Tony

Tony I believe it’s at the rear of the handbrake lever. My 200TDI doesn’t have one.

Jump on the RAVE to confirm where it is.

I know you've prolly put it all back now, but next it's out give it a spray over with hairspray, (the wife won't mind honest), it'll stop the condensation starting a

Which variant of Leviathan do you pilot ?

Hi,

I'm new to this. Thank you.

What is RAVE, please?

Tony.

RAVE is the digital LR bible/workshop manual ..

Have a look in the technical section there should be a download link ... but someone more knowledgeable will be along later ...
