Hi chaps.

Been away a while. Though still had varying LR! I've decide to try the LR2/FL2 - for a few years.

All fine so far. However - the boot light isn't working - I've changed the bulb and checked the fuse. I can't seem to find the tailgate switch - which may (?) turn it on?

Is this a common fault? Have I messed up and not seen anything obvious?

All help - appreciated!

Cheers

Max

I think the interior/ boot lights are triggered from control unit, rather than individual switches, via signals from door locks etc, you might need to put a diagnostic reader on it

Does the dash show the boot is open, when it's open?

The light is powered by the BCU, using a signal from the boot lock.

If the boot is open. The dash will tell you so, if the lock sensor is working. ;)

Thx for question...

I'll check......

It does show as open yes :)

So..... now what?

;)

Been reading up - or trying to - I'm using an LED bulb - might that be the issue? I assumed (maybe wrongly) that it would be OK?

PS: I am from Newquay - originally :)

LEDs don't suit all cars. Especially if the lights are powered by FETs instead of normal switches or relays.
Is the LED connected the correct way round?
Put in a normal bulb and see what happens.

I'm originally from Surrey.

Roger that - will try :)
I read on older post of yours that was some way related - flasher units and LEDs.

I was Newquay - then Surrey (Weybridge) - now West Bridgford :)

I have a couple of LED's in my FL and they only work the one way round.

It caught me out at first. I thought I had bought a pack of duff bulbs.

Thx bud - and Nodge68 - I'll try this too ! :)

I had a look at BCU pictures on google - but one are exploded to show be what is what for a FL2.
the search continues.

Is the (a) FET replaceable?

Only if you are able to fault find and solder in a new component.
The FETs are normally protected from being damage by short circuits and the like. However, like any electronic component, they can fail.
Have you tried a conventional bulb? Or fittted the LED round the other way? LEDs are polar, meaning they only work when they are fitted the correct way round.
