Picked mine up from the sorting office today after missing the delivery
Nipped into town after work for a 16 thingy micro sd and hurriedly ran through the settings to use it on the way home
Overall well impressed. It's tiny but feels solid and the buttons are positive. Instructions have some interesting translation but make sense and the menu is easy to use though I've not set the time properly yet but formatting, gps, quality etc is so easy even I could do it while in a rush.
Got home and plugged it into my puter....which I was a little worried about as I'm running a borrowed job with ubuntu and minimum software but it read and downloaded straight away.
The picture quality is excellent and the field of vision is so much better than the cheapy I've been using. It's reassuring that if I get pulled out on at the last minute it'll be recorded rather than just being a vid that suddenly topples on it's side with no explanation
I have it set to record 10min files which is a little large to upload and I'm yet to suss out the editing software I've just downloaded but suffice to say that the demo vid earlier in this thread is accurate. As said the field of vision is great though you get a fair amount of curved distortion at the edges but that doesn't worry me so long as the picture is sharp which it is.
I have one gripe but tbf it's mainly vehicle specific. The adjustment on the mount up and down is good. Clicks a few degrees at a time and is solid and very little shaking even on a leafer riding potholes
but there is no swivel adjustment side to side.
On most vehicles that wouldn't be a problem as you'd want it mounted high up in the centre of the screen anyway but with the very limited wiper sweep in a Series it means either having it to one side (with no swivel so getting much less vision on the far side) or having it lower down towards the centre.
After some pondering I decided on centre as high as possible but within line of sight of my bonnet mounted spare so I don't lose any road visibility and it actually picks up a much better field of vision than I thought after watching it on a full size screen. I dont think it would be an issue in a motor with a single screen (they'll never catch on you know
)
The screen is small and you can't see half the detail you are picking up but it's plenty big enough to view in playback and lock any files you don't want over-written.
Unlike chappie in the review vid I didn't find any difficulty in removing the cam from the mount, whether that's because it's been improved, he's unlucky or I'm lucky I couldn't say but I won"t be leaving a nice little bit of kit like this on display.
Overall very happy indeed. Just need to sort out the editing now before I take her laning
