Today I went to see my local independent 4X4 mechanics in their little workshop.
Very knowledgeable and helpful they were too.
All 4 wheels off the ground, engine running and the wheels turning - I can't do that on my drive!
They diagnosed that what I thought was a noisy wheel-bearing, was in fact the front prop-shaft bearing.
So now I'm going to replace both of the bearings, asap.
But which to buy? I've just read most of the huge number of threads and posts on the subject, but I'm confused as to which bearings to get.
I've had a look on eBay and there are Britpart, GKN, and loads of others I've never heard of.
Plus I can't sort out the part numbers.
What is the difference between TOQ000010, TOQ000040G, TOQ000060, etc.?
Who should I buy them from? Any to avoid?
Useful comments will be welcomed.
Burning suggestions will be ignored, as usual. :flame:
