Just wondering if the engine in my 2015 L405 3 Litre is a TDV6 or SDV6. I know that both engines are more or less the same but wonder how to tell them apart. Might a clue be in the engine or VIN number? Also is it worth considering an EGR blank / disable, is it even possible on this engine?
Many Thanks
Pete

As far as I know.
the sdv6 is the same as the tdv6 but with a different tune (more power)
Which is the same for the sdv8 and TDV8 .
I think it changed designation on the introduction of the 405.
As for trying to tune out an EGR I would ask why?

Plus 1 with regards that if a DPF is fitted that the EGRs shouldn’t be blanked off , however I’m not sure if DPF’s where fitted to pre adblue engines that on the D4 were introduced in 2016 , don’t know what year it was on the FFRR

indeed TDV6 single turbo where the SDv6 has x 2 turbos

Thanks for the replies. I've read about people blanking off egrs and in fact I did it on my old X Type but that didn't have a DPF.

Assuming it follows the same route as the D4 then it goes summat like this, tdv6 was 245bhp with 6 speed box, then in approx 2011 it went to sdv6 with 255bhp and 8 speed box, all being twin turbo, later sdv6 I think euro 6, so late 2015 65 plate onwards went back to single turbo.
I also think the Range Rover had quite a bit more bhp than the D4. 300 plus?

Too complicated and a nightmare to maintain for the average person... Even a nightmare for a mechanic in some cases.
An old defender or series is a much more economical buy. With tons of fun added. 😊
