If your lucky its the head gasket but most likely as above.......dont run it! get the head off and start looking for the damage :)

    Valve lapping

TBH I think that valve looks ok, if the seat looks shiny too and not pitted its probably fine.

Surging and bucking at light throttle

Fuel pump delivery problem maybe? not an expert on these but from past experience a fast mis/splutter was often spark while a more sluggish mis/splutter was fuel. Bit vague sorry but so many new sensor set ups on these things it could be more in depth, but in general terms my schoolboy list...

    Wheel bearing replacement question

Jack up the wheel just off the ground and grip it and try and rock the wheel side to side from one lock to the other. If its really bad you can detect it by just grabbing the top of the tyre and rocking it in and out without jacking it up. When mine were bad I could rock the wheels in and out...

    Wheel bearing replacement question

Lots of different ideas on the pre-load, some say use a gauge, leave a tiny bit of play etc. When I did mine they were done just about hand tight which I read somewhere was about right...NO totally wrong did a big off road trip and by the end of it I could wobble the wheels about! So replaced...

    orange water

Totally agree, old or no antifreeze, this does cause sludgy deposits that block the radiator core. Definitely flush the rad out as well as the block, run it for a week or so then drain it again and refill with good quality mix. The sludge is bad it clots on water ways in the head and builds...

    Steering drop arm

+1 the tab washer should have an upwards tab that locks it to the arm then the other portion bashed up tight to the nut flat. The arm should lock on its taper? it shouldnt just rely on the nut anyways.

    86 90 Steering box

Check for play in the knuckle joints between the steering wheel and the box, also check for play on the drop arm ball joint and all other connecting rod joints. If theres play in any replace these first. There can be a bit of play in the steering box and thats supposed be there but its a small...

Still stand by why if its mint why dont they MOT it and get loads more dosh? Could be bargain of the day but no MOT and as far as I am concerned its spares or repair. Fanatic said about £450 paid for his I paid £1900 for mine with full MOT and loads of history, though still needed work so make...

    Please Help Value this 90

Be careful! why hasnt the owner sorted the few bits out and got a years MOT on it? sometimes people just cant be arsed, other times its because its going to cost a fortune. Really need some pics, but tbh no more than a few hundred. Worth getting someone who knows them to take a good look...

When does the novelty wear off?

Love hate, but always ends in mutual fondness, am sure my landy loves me too for all the care and effort it has had from me.....and in return it still makes me smile every time I see it and drive it....what a sad #### I am, but alas its the only way :)

Kenlowe fan installation instructions for 200tdi

Original standard fan design is fine, not sure why anyone pays loads of dosh for an electric fan when landrover fitted a perfectly good one in the first place. Some may like them but I know of many that rip them out or regret fitting them. Not sure why previous owner left in the old viscous set...

Mog & Daisy have arrived! :D (with pictures!)

:welcome: and good purchase! parts are cheap for these bad boys but there are parts and there are parts, dont scrimp on the main essentials, namely the clutch. If getting it replaced (is it playing up? ) get complete set not just the friction plate, last owner of mine paid loads of labour to get...
