Can't say for sure but suspect as yours is a later MEMS 3 one that what comes up on your local parts place computer is correct, think it is just the early MEMS 1.9 ones that are the problem.

New driveshafts are very cheap on ebay, got one the other day for £35 with free delivery and 2 year warranty. Be careful about letting a worn O/S inner CV joint run for a long time as it can damage the bearings on the IRD making this a very expensive repair.

That wasn't like that out of the factory the 2.5TD should do glow plugs on the key and not that push button, it looks like it has been bodged by a previous owner, can't see what is wrong with using the TD5 barrel as you suggest.

Can't help with the rest at the moment but that switch is just for the interior light/off/dash illumination, nothing to do with the engine I'm afraid. Good job on the rest of the vehicle by the way.
