Hi Sean, sorry to bother you but just done a search and found your Dad has the exact same probs I've got on my Freelander. Severe judder in 1st and reverse and also the really annoying jingling at 2000rpm. It all started just after a new clutch was fitted, so more or less identical problems...

How about the same judder in a 1.8? Clutch replaced a couple of months ago and judders like a bastard when warm and pulling away in 1st.

I jetted my engine bay as soon as bought my 1.8 immediately had the same symptoms youre describing. Nice mechanics next door in Halfords knew exactly what had happened. They unscrewed I think the bits on top of the engine and just blew all the water out of each hole with an air compressor, job...

I also have the clip on light guards, no need for drilling any holes and they actually fit the lights rather than extending round the body like the other ones. There's always some on Ebay if anyones interested.

It's not the actual pipe I'm going to be hitting or over tightening. Oh well, never mind!

But there's obviously a correct way of fitting this pipe, it's either connected or it isn't connected. I can see it's not rocket science but wondered if there was a trick getting the ends of this pipe installed rather than using a hammer or paying out extra dosh.

Yea I know it'll need regassing, just trying to save myself another £30-£50 labour charges.

Right, I have a cracked ally aircon pipe near the front of engine bay, old label hanging of it says it's a JUF000130. I posted a past thread about this a few weeks back but managed to get the wrong part. Now I'm 100% sure I have the right part I'd appreciate some advice swapping it over with the...

Perhaps mine were grey then! And yea I use that autoglym bumper and trim gel and it's excellent.

Could be wrong but I thought pre2000's had grey bumper, arches etc. So getting them back to black maybe impossible anyway. I know this because mines a 2000 Es right on the borderline with black bumper.

Ok cheers Nodge, so it shouldn't be the drive bearing or splines because that's all been lubed up. Mechanic was clued up with all that. So I'm guessing and hoping the soft lower tie bar bushes or driven plate (whatever they are) maybe a lot cheaper than anything to do with any flywheel problems?

1.8 ES 5dr late 2000 Yep, the idiots me and the clutch has just been replaced along with new slave/master. Very juddery in 1st/2nd when warm and occasionally difficult to get into all gears. It's becoming a bit of a pain to drive, specially in slow moving traffic etc. Clutch was all lubed up...

88k on my 5 door Freelander 1.8 ES late 2000 x reg. Full service history. Looks pretty mint inside and out and as far as I know it has the original hg, vcu and no thermostat mods. Just had new clutch and master/slave. Yes, I know I'm living on borrowed time etc etc!
