Freelander 1 Help again! Dash removal and beyond! SOLVED

I was pretty proud of myself today, dash removed from the car with only a small-ish amount of pratting about and not too much swearing! However, it is still impossible to reach the chewed bits of the loom I need to repair. Car is LHD, so the A/C evaporator and big black plastic housing are in...

Freelander 1 Help! - Dash removal - Solved

Hi again. 2004 TD4. Decided to start on the dash removal today so I can get to repair the damaged loom. Everything was going well but I seem to have a problem I don't know how to resolve. After removing the drivers airbag and rotary coupler, next step is to slacken the clamp screw and remove the...

    Freelander 1 2004 TD4 - Loom damage

Hi again. Following on from my previous post about rats having been in the car while we were away, I think I have found the damage. Bear in mind this is a LHD car. It appears that 5 or 6 wires in the loom have been chewed which is causing my 3 amigos problem. The location of the damage is on the...

    Freelander 1 Diagnostic

I also think I must be the most stupid man in the world. We spent 3 weeks in the UK and I could have easily bought a pscan diagnostic tool, but if I buy it now, in Spain, it will cost me 30% more, in import duty and VAT. Thank you Brexit. Might have to be iCarsoft.

    Freelander 1 Td4 Rat ****!

Hi again, before I start, I would like to say I appreciate all the help the people on this forum have given me previously. Here we go, excuse me for the long winded rambling. We live in rural Spain and a few years ago, on a family visit to the UK, an extraordinary hail storm made a mess of my...

Freelander 1 HPFP, sorry to bring it up again!

Sorry to bring it up again, and yes I've searched, without much luck. Replacing the seals, O rings etc, I have torqued down the heads to 25Nm, and I can still see daylight through the body/head joint. Surely that can't be correct? I'm sure the seals etc are seated correctly. Thanks in advance.

    Freelander 1 2004 TD4 - HPFP seals

Hi, Can anybody tell me the part no. for the repair kit for the CP1 high pressure fuel pump? I have had a search on here but can't find it. Also, does the kit include a new seal for the access plug for the special tool? I assume this should be changed? The regulator seal kit that I have, only...

    Freelander 1 2004 TD4 Diesel leak.

Hi again. Another problem, hope someone can shed some light. I have a fuel leak and I can't see where it is coming from. I assumed it would be the high pressure fuel pump regulator, but I have removed the inlet manifold and it is definitely not coming from there. It's intermittent, some times no...

    Freelander 1 2004 TD4 airbag clockspring.

Hi again, I hope someone can help me out. I'm in the process of fitting a new clockspring and have got as far as removing the old one. The new one appears to be the correct part and has all the right connectors etc. but, on the old one, the yellow wire to connect to the airbag sits at the 12...

    Freelander 1 Tailgate problems. SOLVED

Hi All. I know this has been discussed on numerous occasions but no amount of searching has solved my problem so apologies for raising this issue again. The springs in the tailgate handle went some time ago but I was able to continue using the tailgate without any problems, moving the handle...

    Freelander 1 TD4 EGR solenoid.

Hi, hope someone can offer some advice. The metal mounting bracket which holds the EGR solenoid to the side of the block has cracked and broken, I assume the engine vibrations have caused a stress failure. I can buy a new bracket but can only find a genuine one, in the UK and by the time I pay...

Freelander 1 Low pressure fuel pump.

2004 TD4. Hi everyone, is the consensus of opinion still that the Pierburg pump is the only pump to fit? Mine appears to have stopped working this morning!! Thanks in advance.

    Freelander 1 2004 TD4 turbo problems. SOLVED.

Hi, been a while since I posted, I've been having a good run up to now but it seems that's come to end! So, the car felt a little down on power at low revs, fine higher up the rev range and the MIL coming on intermittently. Codes read showing low boost pressure so I changed the turbo boost...

    Freelander 1 Driveshaft/IRD

I have been posting in the "what have you done today" thread but thought I should start a new thread as it appears my problems are bigger than I thought! I originally thought that I had excessive play in both front driveshafts but I've been back under the car today and it seems I was mistaken...

Freelander 1 TD4 Sport seems sluggish.

Hi everyone. Hope you're all well and staying safe. Not posted for a while as I've had no problems (jinx?) but I've been following many threads with interest. We've just set off on a trip here in Spain, towing a 1150kg caravan for the first time. All is going well and being the first time with a...

    Freelander 1 TD4 Sport tyres.

I've been following a couple of other threads regarding tyres. My Sport is due a couple of tyres soon. I have been running Pirelli Scorpion Asimetrico 235/50 R18 since I bought the car 9 years ago. No complaints but they aren't cheap here in Spain. I notice that Nodge mentioned he is running...

    Freelander 1 TD4 lower wishbones.

In March of this year I replaced both front wishbones as the ball joints were knocking. 2000km later and the ball joints are knocking again!! I fitted Lemforder parts, or at least I hope I did. That's what I ordered and paid for but when the bits arrived, they were in Britpart boxes but the...

    Freelander 1 TD4 thermostat mod

I have a 2004 TD4 manual. I assume the thermostat has gone as even here in sunny Spain, the temperature gauge only gets to it's normal halfway mark when the engine is working hard. I understand that replacing the original thermostat is an involved job and most people opt to fit a thermostat in a...

Freelander 1 Bottom engine tie bar.

Hi. How much play is too much in the bottom engine tie bar? With the undertray removed, I can rock the engine quite easily by hand. I assume that this is too much play? If so, anyone know the best place to get one? Cheers.
