Thinking of giving these guys a crack at the Landy to make sure that the dreaded rust doesn't get established in way of the chassis. Does anyone have any experience of their services? Rustmaster and Waxoyl Professional Home Page

Too late it's done now! :)

    A frame SLU Boge

Right, firstly I removed my knackered BOGE self levelling unit today and replace the fulcrum assembly, fitted new Monroe dampers and heavy duty springs. Retained standard ride height as the Landy is mainly used for towing rather than off any off-roading. Secondly, if only I new that the Boge...

    A frame SLU Boge

Did you not change the springs? Is it not now a little bouncy and sagging at the rear? Could you put together a 'how to' for how you completed this task? Is the boge unit preloaded ie in compression when fitted? Or is it simply a case of un-bolting the unit and discarding? Thanks

    A frame SLU Boge

WOW just logged on to find out the exact same thing! If I remember rightly from past posts you will require heavy duty springs to be fitted at the rear which will also result in a 2" lift of the tailgate. However I would like to have this confirmed and understand if it is simply just the...

    Fuel starvation - I think..........

Well managed to sort it this morning. Having spoken to a specialist I changed the fuel cap - blocked breather attributing to the pressure problem in the tank. Changed the lift pump and replaced fuel filter. Job done runs perfectly and revs freely with no power loss. Happy again.:)

    Fuel starvation - I think..........

Woke up early Saturday to go to work and having set off in the Landy I noticed that if the throttle was partially depressed it was fine however, if I fully depressed the throttle the engine lacked all power and wanted to die. Thinking possibly a blocked fuel filter I replaced with new but...

    A-Frame ball joint renewal

What sort of pressure is it under when jacked up and suspension fully extended?

    A-Frame ball joint renewal

All well and good but Buster's vehicle does not have a SLU.

Is it under pressure when both wheels are fully off the floor and the suspension fully extended?

    A-Frame ball joint renewal

Is it possible to change the A-frame ball joint without removing the arms and boge self levelling unit. Think it could be hard work to remove everything and difficult to reassemble on completion.

    North Wales green laning

Green laning in North Wales.....any ideas??? Can anyone recommend a nice route not too challenging ie no ford/ deep mud crossings. Steep inclines yes but no water or excessive mud. Only running standard height and no breather kit fitted. Thanks.

    Wheel wobble

Changed steering damper for a Terrafirma heavy duty item today and the issue has been resolved. The standard damper that was removed was well past it's best.

    No roll bar???

Purchased some new anti roll bars both front and back and whilst going to fit I noticed that there is no front anti roll bar currently fitted. I have replaced the rear and will fit the front this weekend. Is it normal to not have a front roll bar fitted?

    Rust defence and reduction.

Starting to see evidence of rust in way of the rear cab and want to know how to get control of it. The area in question is where the rear cab meets the main body of the vehicle. It's the strip that separates the main body and the rear cab. Any ideas?

How would this affect performance and drive ability?

Apart from the drag how would gearing be affected? I'm my eyes a defender is the ultimate off road vehicle; easy to maintain and hard as nails. However surely fitting huge wheels would impact upon this ability as the gearing would be hugely affected? Slow acceleration and reduced torque!

    Wheel wobble

When hitting say a manhole or pot hole I have noticed recently an increase in wheel wobble through the steering wheel. I have recently replaced the pan hard bushes for polybushes and check tightened everything yet still experience the wheel wobble. Any thoughts? I'm thinking possibly worn...

How would this affect performance and drive ability?

To me there comes a point where gearing will dictate the effectiveness of huge lift and wheels as surely such mods have a massive impact on the torque and power transfer? Or am I missing something?
