i have a 110 husky superwinch on my 200 tdi offroader wired direct to the battery and i have had no problems with it in 3 years standerd battery and standerd alternator never let me down ever .i just keep it running when winching but keep the reves up around 1500

brake pad is not a part of your hand brake on a d3,the hand brake is shoes in the back of the disc /drum . d3 suffers from sticky rear calipers if not serviced regulary and it will eat rear brake pads if its sticky.
