Wipers sticking - continue when moved

Thanks guys, had it all apart today. Plenty of grease along where the cable slides and around the worm gear, but took the main wheel out completely and gave the shaft out the back of it that sits within the motor housing plenty of grease as that was bone dry, along with plenty more as I...

    Overheating and need some help...

Can't say I understand your reaction. My cooling system is running perfectly, I was merely describing the issue I had regarding overheating/losing coolant somewhat similar to the OP, re; no obvious leaks.

Of course not  Might've misread the summary... Edit help? :D

    Overheating and need some help...

For a long time I was losing coolant but only when it was being used, basically when the system was under pressure. Never found it for a long time just kept the system topped up, as time went on longer motorway drives or real hot weather would have the gauge creeping up, but there was never an...

Wipers sticking - continue when moved

Everything seems fine in that regard, considering the old motor was fine but noisy and I replaced everything else as well it seems likely to be the motor itself. Just had a look and found the old motor, I'll take the new one out and have a look at it and if nothing obvious, replace it with the...

Wipers sticking - continue when moved

Thanks guys, I just took the cover off around the motor, ran intermittent and whenever the motor failed to do the following intermittent wipe a gentle tap to the end of the shaft with the circlip on it got it going again immediately.

Wipers sticking - continue when moved

Annoying fault, few years back I renewed the whole front wiper system in my Defender, OEM motor, spindles and cable. The old lot was noisy and worn. But now for some odd reason the wipers get stuck in park, it's rather random and only tends to happen when they're either on intermittent or...

Some changes to my defender and a CLUNK !

I find this to be true, I used to get hung up on drivetrain knocks and clunks and yes, some were rather serious (LT77 mainshaft wear - might be worth looking into if it has an old LT77 in it?) but after getting to know the underneath of mine rather well I now take it as it is. A quick gear...

    A stubborn panhard rod

Thanks guys, I will take the grinder to it tomorrow night then. Have polybushes to go back in so hopefully will go back together nicely with new bolts and lots of copper grease.

    A stubborn panhard rod

Trying to remove the panhard rod to replace the bushes, thought it would be one of the easier ones to do...no. Axle end had a castellated nut fitted with pin which was rusted solid in place, freed that with the gas axe and brute force but now I cannot remove the bolt because the it has corroded...

    2005 Fuel Pump Worries

Thanks for your help guys, I'll get on the phone in the morning to make sure I get the right one on order. OEM is a definite no question about that.

    2005 Fuel Pump Worries

Definitely sounds like it could do with a change then! This is what it sounds like with just ignition on (hope it's right, uploaded on me phone but can't view the video online in the browser) http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2h7fl08%3E&s=8#.U3ZyGr1wbqA

    2005 Fuel Pump Worries

Got a 2005 Freelander with the single fuel pump in the O/S rear wheel arch. This morning I got out with car running and the pump sounded very loud, buzzing, clearly audible over the sound of the engine - fairly loud to be honest. Switched off and listened to it priming with just ignition...

    Reverse to disengage diffloc?

Quite normal, reversing a bit undoes any wind-up that has occurred while the diff was locked. I always make sure to get the light out before going any distance on tarmac as the diff is still locked while the light is on, even if you've moved the lever back.

That sounds good, I shall look into doing that perhaps. Thanks for that one Dave.

New hippo teething issues - clutch & brakes

Thanks for the replies, bled the clutch earlier some dirty fluid came out but it's not really any different. Master cylinder didn't seem to push much fluid with each pump. Can't see the slave move when pressing clutch so assume mounting plate is ok. Just seems like pedal needs to push cylinder...

New hippo teething issues - clutch & brakes

Hi all, Mrs and I went for an upgrade from old FL van to a facelift Td4 Sport, got a few questions on some things. The clutch bites very low, you have to make sure that you push the pedal with tip of toe so that it can be pushed far enough to work properly, clutch fluid is sufficient but...

    Clutch Drag Issues - Advice

It certainly sounds like it, noise disappears as soon as box comes out of the gear, months ago when I first heard it thought it may be front axle but have checked bearings, and brakes, etc. Yes they fitted them both, though out of warranty by a few months now, got the message that gearbox...
