3 Amigo brake light switch replacement Guide

Hi, I have a brand new switch and converter harness here that doesn't fit my '98 car and has been sitting in a box for the past few months! Happy to sell for £15 delivered if someone here with a newer car is having similar problems! Cheers, [email protected].

    Offroading and that exhaust!!!!

I run a very similar set up to Edge - I bashed the rear box a number of times off road and removed it to increase clearance. From where the centre pipe sits horizontalish and pointing straight back over the rear lower arm, I have now fitted a stubby silencer in it's place.

Can I increase my tyres profile ?

Agree with Kizzeh, 17's with a thicker wall will be more comfortable if that's your concern. Otherwise, 235/55/18's (716mm OD) will be no problem on an F1 with a standard wheel offset, as 205/80/16's (734mm OD) work fine on mine and many other cars, although run very close to the lower spring cup.

    would you or wouldn't you??

Just a note - if you're towing you'll need all 4 wheels on the ground. If the 2 front's are lifted onto the bed of a van/truck they'll try to spin too as the rears start to move as it's permanent 4x4!

    Cheap starter motor

LAND ROVER FREELANDER 2.0 DIESEL STARTER MOTOR 97-01 | eBay. £70 plus a tenner postage. Re-manufactured unit - check the code off yours before ordering up though. This is the correct one for my L Series.

    Suspention lift

40mm or 2" lift kits are available, they just add a spacer between the top of the shock turret and the body. Get your tracking and camber checked afterwards, and you will need to trim a section from your inner wings up front for the lower arms. Plenty of threads on here - just do a search for...

3 Amigo brake light switch replacement Guide

I bought the switch and loom as shown in the first post, but the original part on my 99 L series is different, so the new part won't fit on the bracket and the wiring is different. Any ideas?

No drive after propshaft removal ?

There's only a physical bolted connection between the IRD and the central/rear prop, it can't know it's been removed. Sounds like the IRD is goosed matey, an expensive fix I think...

    soundproofing freelanders

Mine was very noisy until recently - replaced propshaft support bearings and also patched up a couple of blows in the exhaust. Made a huge difference - double check wheel bearings too for a speed related drone.

    Front Wiper position

Couple of 13mm nuts and a wobble on the arms to remove them from their splines, pull the plastic rivets out from the top of the plastic cover where is connects under the window glass, then pop the plastic rivets where the cover connects in the bay and pull back the seal strip with the bonnet and...

    4wd to 2wd conversion

No need for any blanking plates - just removed the whole prop from the IRD back including the VCU. It's easiest on proper ramps so you can spin the wheels while you progress to gain access to all the bolts round the shaft, but axle stands will also be OK if you don't mind working on your back...

Wiper linkage repair clip going FREE!

I bought one of these WINDSCREEN WIPER LINKAGE REPAIR CLIP LAND ROVER FREELANDER | eBay the other day to fix my NS wiper arm but after opening it up realised another part had failed so it's now going spare! I've never tried it but the seller seems to have good feedback etc - I have no...

    Intermitant loss of power

If the car's fixed for £200 all in that sounds pretty good to me if you couldn't have carried out the job on your own at home! Some garages near me charge £60/hr+ which soon adds up if the job takes longer than expected even without parts!

    EGR on Freelander Di

Sorry, in answer to the cooling questions above: The complete kit comes with a small pipe that simply joins the coolant pipes together where the EGR used to sit. The EGR no longer needs to be cooled, but the coolant flow is therefore un-interupted and doesn't effect anything else with the...

    EGR on Freelander Di

I bought something like this EGR blanking plate KIT ROVER 220 25 420 45 MG ZR ZS FREELANDER STREETWISE HONDA | eBay and fitted it to my L series after removing the EGR. When it came off I checked inside and it was probably dirtier that the pics you have posted, although not all tarred up or...

    Tyres

205/80/16 is the biggest you can fit on an F1 due to the lower spring cups being only a few mm away from the edges! The body lift increases arch clearance but only hub spacers will allow the fitment of wider tyres.

Good vid - shame you didn't get an outside angle of the FL over that same course tho. Glad to see all the "proper" landys struggling too!
