Any advice on the end plates? should i weld them to the body before the crossmember goes in or weld them to the crossmember first then the body?

well started today by removing the passenger side rear quarter, lo and behold huge holes everywhere! so started off by patching those to start with. Then removed most of the rotten x member, suprisingly the door side is very solid? wheras the other side is as rotten as a pear.... so tomorrow...

isnt that wood glue?

Also if i do have to remove the rear quarter to weld it in what do i use to stick it back on with?

Hi Folks quick question. I have bought a new rear X member and end plates and wondered if i need to weld the plates on before i fit the xmember or after its in place? cheers

ok new crossmember arrived inc end plates. Quick question do the end plates get welded on before or after fitting the crossmember?

Sorry being a bit thick here, not sure what you mean? I need to get at the bit under the rear panel that covers the e post to do a small repair. As that's Ali I'm not sur I could cut it back and then weld it back up.

Hi folks it looks like i'll be starting the rear crossmember replacement next week,:eek::eek::eek: oh the joy!! Just had a look today and noticed that the curved section at the bottom of the door pillar needs some repair :( and i'm pretty sure thats a fabrication job? also under the rear corner...

ok managed to get it out all cleaned and put back together.........nothing :( still no dipped beam. Any thoughts?

hmm all undone and cant slide the little barsteward out for love nor money!!! any more tips. took the plugs out and they are all scorched so think thats the problem. just cant get it off

checked them, they are corroded and melted but they still work although they will be changed shortly. Im pretty sure its the stalk just not sure how to get it off!

Hi all, im sure this has come up a lot but my dipped beam has stopped working. Can anyone tell me how to remove the stalk as i have undone the 2 screws but it wont slide out. Ive searched the forum to no avail. Im sure its the stalk as when i was tinkering they briefly came on. Any help mucho...
