D2 Td5 Front and Rear ACE ARB's and Actuators

Free to anyone who wants them. Taken off my 99 Td5 a couple of years ago when I scrapped the ACE system due to leaking pipework. Worked fine until removed. Stored in garage but having a clear out. In skip at tip by the end of the week if nobody wants them. Collect from Knutsford...

    99 Td5 Battery drain

Had a quick look on similar issues but wonder if anyone can advise what is making the slight ticking noise in the engine compartment? Tried to start the car a week ago and it all went horribly wrong. Reached the point where I had the dreaded 'B' symbol with the diagonal line through it...

Discovery 2, Changing the door lock actuators

To avoid any unexpected window movement when doing this job would it be ok to disconnect the battery?

Odometer fault symbol - central locking - not going anywhere fast!

Not your fault Sierrafery - far from it. I'm 100% certain you or some other kind person did point this out to me. It was completely my oversight however I have catalogued all the changes made so far so if I do sell the car in the future there will be some documented reason why I managed to drive...

Odometer fault symbol - central locking - not going anywhere fast!

Thanks Sierrafery - PM reply sent. Hope you got it? Iansoady, thanks also. Yes I did get in to the back of the passenger fuse box and the PCB appeared to be fine - no mess - nothing. It's as dry as witches watsit in there.

Odometer fault symbol - central locking - not going anywhere fast!

Further to my last post Sierrafery, "Next time" has arrived sooner than expected and I am back to square one. Whereas before I was able to coax the old girl back in to life by disconnecting the battery etc the situation now is somewhat different. I have removed all the fuse panels and...

Odometer fault symbol - central locking - not going anywhere fast!

Thanks for the advice. Will invest in some shortly. FYI, I have had the BCU opened and on this occasion it all appears dry however in the past I know there has been some moisture evident in this area. Fingers crossed, we're rolling along nicely again - until the next time!

Odometer fault symbol - central locking - not going anywhere fast!

Again thanks for your valued help however in frustration I arranged for the car to be towed off on Monday for investigation. Out of curiosity (as I had nothing to lose) I disconnected the battery one last time and did the reset procedure but for less than 5 minutes this time - more like the...

Odometer fault symbol - central locking - not going anywhere fast!

Many thanks for the leads Sierrafery. Apart from exchanging the fusebox/IDM with a known good one for test am I correct in thinking that a diagnostic would pinpoint the other potential problems or is that too much to expect? If so - I need to find someone with a tester in Cheshire?

Odometer fault symbol - central locking - not going anywhere fast!

Have trawled previous posts and would basically like some direction to get going again. Monday got in car to be met with 6 chimes and a number 8 with a diagonal bar across it. Found out this was well documented on here so removed BCU and checked connections for moisture etc - re-connected...

    Immobiliser interference

Thanks for your help. Reading the threads it seems in my case the immobiliser can be re-programmed so no need to replace any BECM? Is this the case? If so, does this have to be done by a dealer or can it be done by someone with a Nanocom? Thanks.

    Immobiliser interference

Firstly, apologies to those that think I can't be bothered to check out the threads on this topic but I have done and just want some good advice as to how to negate this particular problem. Went to my local shop the other evening and didn't even bother locking the car as I had three dogs in the...

    Ignition switch - another coincidence?

Belated thanks for all the help. Fitted new "economy" steering lock and apart from having 2 keys now instead of one...all is well. Out of interest, apart from there being no makers name on the barrel it looks pretty well identical to the original! Thanks again.

    Ignition switch - another coincidence?

Thanks Landybandy. The car was on all fours when I tried the key in the lock - I tried everything. Re-fitted the lock today and still no joy so ordered a new one which should arrive tomorrow. Can anyone shed any light on what the micro switch does in the barrel? I am still puzzled by the "key...

    Ignition switch - another coincidence?

Thanks for the advice and the very useful pictures. I bit the bullet and went in with all guns blazing. Nothing to lose as I wasn't going anywhere Can't say I saw any spring fly out when I disembowelled mine? I presume this is a different lock? All looked as though it was in working order so I...

    Ignition switch - another coincidence?

Have tried all options bar removing the lock. Even disconnected BCU and nothing. I see on another forum comments about how to remove the steering lock but wonder if anyone has any detail of how to go about it on this forum? I find pictures speak a thousand words and am rather reluctant to...

    Ignition switch - another coincidence?

Thanks guys. Tried Graphite/WD 40 - the lot! Odd - that although I have had problems in the past it is the coincidence of jacking the car up and doing the brakes that is puzzling me. Just looked at RAVE and see the ignition barrel has a "Key in" sensor. Don't think the fuse has blown but will...

    Ignition switch - another coincidence?

Thanks for the advice but the key isn't stuck in the barrel. It is totally free - it's just I can't get the key to turn in the barrel.

    Ignition switch - another coincidence?

Jacked up the car today to fettle jammed brake pad on near side rear then did the same for the offside rear. Noticed that when all wheels back on that she was down a bit at the back end (air suspension). To straighten her up, I put the key in the ignition switch (to get the air compressor...
