    Bugger just blown up :(

That would be a bargain Sean but I'm east of Edinburgh here so pretty far away. My father-in-law has a complete SII gearbox squirreled away if I need to get one, but the gearbox in my landy was a properly reconditioned one fitted and pretty sweet, so if it's OK and its only the transfer box that...

    Bugger just blown up :(

My thoughts are the same - that the transfer box has gone into 4WD and stopped, causing the prop to shear. I've got a hold of another transfer box which seems ok. Will I be creating extra work taking the whole gearbox/transfer box out, cause it seems that whilst that will take a bit of effort...

    Bugger just blown up :(

It's sheared through the UJ - it's like one end of the propshaft came to a sudden halt and the other didnt. The transfer box lever seems to be in the wrong place now too - middle position is now putting it into low. I am going to proceed like you've suggested - I'll temp join the fuel line so I...

    Bugger just blown up :(

Well got the landy towed home and had a quick look. The propshaft has sheared off at the transfer box end, and whilst spinning freely it has snapped the fuel pipe and also wound the front offside brake pipe round itself. There's a cast bracket that the clutch rod goes through, and that has...

    Bugger just blown up :(

:( My SIIa decide to blow up after just a couple of miles. Heard a clattering under the seat box and immediately killed the engine. The front propshaft has snapped clean off at the gearbox end. I got under and removed the shaft so I could try to at least drive home, but when I started I...

    Flamer Plug

Sound, thanks very much for the advice chaps. The switch I have is a push to hold one, so I will go and fetch a relay from the local scrappers and get some fuel line and crack on with it. No point having a landy in this weather if I can't start the bugger! Cheers. :)

    Flamer Plug

Couple of quick questions if anyone has messed about with flamer plugs? I need to get the flamer plug for my perkins engine in my SIIa connected up - I'm risking flattening my battery every time I start without it in these current conditions. The previous owner used to remove the air filter and...

Not a good week in Lil-landies world...

Jeez I would have killed them all. Tell your sister SHE is personally responsible, it might teach her to consider the company she keeps better. Why did she sit back and let them do this to your landy? I also consider that ALL the damage done was as a result of them ramming the landy into walls...

Would you happen to know which issue this was - I'd quite like to order a back copy of it. Ta. :)

Most Redundant Gift for a LR Series Owner...

Mine is on an overhead shelf so doesn't really get any damping at all up there. I don't use it for cds tho, same as yourself I plug my phone or ipod into the aux.

I can hear the stereo but can't play feck all from the cd slot, for some unfathomable reason it dislikes leafspring suspension. :D

    MOT in 42 mins!

Yeah, good idea I'll do that, cheers.

    MOT in 42 mins!

He put it down as missing seat belt from the offside front. I did point out that the MOT testers manual says a seat belt fitted where there is NO seat is not considered to be testable. I will be fitting seatbelts to the driver seat and lap belts to the bench seats, but as this is all new to me...

Most Redundant Gift for a LR Series Owner...

Yeah, especially with a cd player - skip-tastic. A voucher for a full-valet would be pretty useless.

    MOT in 42 mins!

Two good reasons and the rest utter bollocks. Now please stop getting in the way of a good moan, there's a good chap. :p

    MOT in 42 mins!

I think you are all correct, I agree that I need to go to a garage that understands or has an appreciation of these old classics - this guy seemed to take an instant dislike to my SIIa. Sure, it's a bit tatty on the outside but I've tried to do all the work properly myself so that it's...

    MOT in 42 mins!

Ach, still an imbalance with the front brakes. Thinking it might be an off-round drum as I've adjusted the brakes on both sides as best as possible - and it's new cylinders, shoes, pipes and adjusters all round. MOT tester was pernickety as hell - decided my foot switch for full/dip beam was a...

    MOT in 42 mins!

Booked the old bus in for 11. Bricking it - MOTs have to be worse than even sitting in a dentists waiting room! I think I've taken care of everything on the fail sheet but still not convinced the brakes are going to pass - adjusting series brakes seems to be an arcane art. Ah well...

    free wheeling hubs seal, fairy

I was crapping myself when I had to strip my freewheeling hubs, was convinced the ring on the end of the nyloc strip was going to break. Have you tried any of the owner's clubs?
