I used to set mine half a tooth advanced because I knew it would do this.

Ok then maybe not nothing but in this application a fine mist of engine oil over it is far cheaper and more effective than wd40.

Spray it with oil. WD40 will do nothing.

Post that in the series section, I'm sure they'll find it relevant ;)

Interesting that because I haven't measured the tread depth on the spare. It hasn't been used so it may well be on 10mm. Also if they last as well as yours do I am going to add another to the front sooner rather than later and have the 5mm as spare ;)

I won't know that, til I take it oft. It does look quite clean, which leads me to believe it's been off fairly recently. But who knows.
