    What does this do?

Good party trick, but they hand start OK as well. Or you can spin them over using a drive belt driven by another tractor, many from that era had drums to drive a belt.

    What does this do?

Feeds the cold start aid screwed into the inlet tract. Get it going, I have had several, on Perkins engined tractors and Land Rovers. Better than glow plugs, and don't put so much load on the battery in cold weather.

Welcome to LZ! Assuming this is Td5 engined?

300 TDI - Does anybody know what shoud be in this hole, bottom of cam belt housing

The cam belt is more likely to get contaminated with the plug in. The casing can fill up with condensation, or oil leakage from the front crank seal, and this will eventually reach the bottom of the belt.

Buy a Landy, then Breakdown Cover!

Heard of that before as well. Some people get roadside assist as part of other insurance, house insurance, bank accounts, or credit insurance if the car is leased or on HP.

Buy a Landy, then Breakdown Cover!

Green Flag. Basic cover, no extras. I have been with them for years, only ever called them out once, so the price has come down over the years. Also covers me in other cars. Provided I haven't nicked em, of course! :D

Yes. Ex girlfriend, not the River Exe in Devon. Or my ex wife.

Hello to everyone! Help me choose

I know. Was hoping you had bought one, and was looking forward to the pics. :) I like Fiats, my wife has a Qubo, and one of my exes had a Fiat Abarth convertible.

    300Tdi clutch

Use all the features of your vehicle, or they will seize up or fail. Low range can be safely used for backing into parking spaces, and similar. Centre Diff Lock can be used on slippery surfaces, mud, sand or gravel. Best not used on the road. As stated above^^^^, there is a neutral between High...

Hello to everyone! Help me choose

Good choice. Cheap and cheerful, but good off road as well. You can take your kid for the odd laning trip when you aren't on school runs. :)

    300Tdi clutch

Linkage gone a bit stiff, I should think. Common if you don't use diff lock much.

    300Tdi clutch

I don't see any good reason clutch judder from a worn clutch would only occur in reverse? Maybe live with it for a while, see if it gets worse/starts to happen when pulling away forwards, before biting off clutch replacement. The suggestions already given about handbrake, A frame, and driving...

Hello to everyone! Help me choose

I wouldn't say Ninety, One Ten, or Defenders, were indestructible. They are old tech, and have a reliability level you would expect of vehicles designed in that era. Their saving feature is that parts are pretty cheap, so if you don't mind working on them yourself, they are affordable in that...

White smoke from air intake after switch off

Also try removing the rocker box cap, and start the engine. The vapour coming out will give an indication of crankcase pressure, and heavy chuffing shows a blown head gasket, also pretty common on 19js.
  16. Turboman

    Desperate. Don't know anymore.

You can replace them with silicone hoses, which tend to be a bit better.

White smoke from air intake after switch off

Take the intake hoses off, and have a look inside them, see if there is any oil in there, and where. Also open up the air filter housing, and inspect element, and remove it an look in the bottom of the housing.

    insa turbo tyres

Not really. Or maybe, depending on your individual circumstances. :vb-bouncy2: Threads about tyres pretty much always go like this, you get used to it after a while. :)

    insa turbo tyres

All 4x4 vehicles should have matched sets of tyres, make, size, tread pattern, and wear. They should be replaced in sets. Obviously, that is the letter of the law, and probably not everyone observes this to the letter in real life. Presumably some get away with it, and others don't. So it is...

Not actually called LZ live any more, but if you click on Whats New, and then Latest Activity, you will get a list of all the posts in real time. The only part of the forum I use with any regularity, as it saves having to read about stuff I am not much interested in, like Freelanders. It isn't...
