Well, as of tomorrow afternoon, I shall no longer be a Disco owner! :( It sold for £3100 on Ebay, so not a bad price. When I've settled myself into my new job in Prague, i'll look for another one! Sayonara!

Thats a lot of money!! :eek: You can get a superb example for less than 3K GBP here in the UK. I expect mine to go for about that on Ebay, and mine has less than average mileage, full service history, is in superb condition AND it has an expensive private number plate!

No, I think Landrover had a different size plug to the standard types, whether they were purchased in the UK or France. You need that harness adaptor. I would contact the seller on Ebay to see if he has one for the '96 model.

Yes, the same happened to me when I tried the on-line quote. I called them up and the quote dropped to just over £200!

You should try Lancaster Insurance next time. They are dirt cheap, know their Landrovers and lay out the red carpet for Disco owners! :)

About the availability of a LHD Disco in the UK, you'd be surprised! I can't find many, and the ones on Ebay (offered for rich ex-pats who want a summer vehicle in France/Spain/Portugal, etc) are being sold for princely sums! :eek:

Well, for 300tdi owners there isn't a problem, as most of these Disco 1 types were fitted with the blanking plate at manufacture (an EGR was only required for some overseas countries with more stringent emission laws than ours). My Disco 1 has passed the MoT without any reference to the...

Anyone know whether the engine blanket in this picture is any good? Is it a standard part? I've always been interested in damping the noise, especially at low revs/speeds.

That's not bad, I fixed mine by buying the dash repair kit for £38 from Devon 4x4 and had my local LR specialist fit it for another £50. :D

Any noticeable loss of power? If so, really does sound like the head gasket. Watch out for turbo runaway!
