Worth checking if your freelander won't start.

Thought I should add this turned out to be the connector going into the fuel pump, not the wiring before the connector.

Lumpy Idle and Sluggish to Rev 1.8 Freelander

Thought I'd update this as it annoys the hell out of me when people have problems and never come back to tell us how they got on. My freelander is now running ok (apart from a dodgy fuel pump electrical connector - see other thread) and it turned out to be a combination of the first garage...

Where can a source a 1.8 petrol Fuel Pump electrical connector?

On my 1999 1.8 Freelander, the electrical connector that goes into the fuel pump under the rear seat is knackered and causing issues. It is past saving, so where can I source a new connector from - I've had a google and cannot find anywhere to get a new one - is my only hope to cut one off a...

Insurance renewal £1800 up from £400 last year!!!

I finally spoke to Sureterm - they said that if my freelander was modified I could stay on the same "Enthusiast" policy as last year for the same money, but as the vehicle is standard they are not interested! :( Mods included lifts, underbody protection, big wheels/tyres, cages, winches etc etc

Insurance renewal £1800 up from £400 last year!!!

What is that all about?!?! With Sureterm, nothing has changed at our end. Completely std Mk1 Freelander. We were on some special Land Rover policy where you didn't earn no claims, but not sure about the one they have suggested as it mentions no claims bonus.

Lumpy Idle and Sluggish to Rev 1.8 Freelander

I have got a slight blow on the rear box. Could this cause an exhaust airflow problem?

Lumpy Idle and Sluggish to Rev 1.8 Freelander

Ta for your thoughts - anyways, it occurred to me that my top new neighbour who just happens to be the service manager for the local ex-rover dealership now mg-rover specialist might take it to his place for a once over. I'm dropping the keys off with him tonight. He tells me they have k-series...

Lumpy Idle and Sluggish to Rev 1.8 Freelander

I reckon I need a k-series specialist, not a Landie specialist or main dealer - it's been to a specialist and they didn't know what was wrong cos the computer told them everything was ok!

Lumpy Idle and Sluggish to Rev 1.8 Freelander

I don't think it's the head gasket as it's not losing water and others don't think so. I read the thread on the wiring loom and will have a good look when I get the chance. Cheers.

Lumpy Idle and Sluggish to Rev 1.8 Freelander

Well I finally managed to get my freelander to a garage to replace the fuel filter along with some other jobs, but unfortunately whilst there have been some improvements the car is not 100% It now starts without problem, but the idle is lumpy and the throttle response is sluggish, especially...

    Freelander stereo and speaker upgrade.

Hi - I didn't need a powered booster adaptor - some cars, especially those with short bee-sting aerials need a powered adaptor, but I just needed a converter from one type of connector to t'other. Have you got a full length whip aerial? If so you shouldn't need anything. If you're not happy go...

    HELP! Frustrating 1.8 K-series starting/running problems

Hello, I have posted about this problem when it initially started, but I thought I'd summarise where I am now cos I'm stuck! I've got a 99 plate 1.8 Freelander with the dodgy 1.8 K-series engine. It has a strange starting and sluggish running problem that I cannot get to the bottom of. I...

Help! Problems after plug/dizzy/rotor/HT lead replacement.

Well, with the Coolant Temperature Sensor disconnected I could get the Freelander started and once warmed up it ran better, but still not great so I replaced the Sensor. Unfortunately it didn't make a difference so it is now at the garage hoping they can find the problem. :(

Help! Problems after plug/dizzy/rotor/HT lead replacement.

Well I'm pretty sure the leads are on in the correct order as they are all different lengths, but I will check them tomos - if that isn't the problem I'm going to try unplugging leads as it idles to see if the problem gets worse or stays. Then I'll try blowing out the plug sockets. Interestingly...

Help! Problems after plug/dizzy/rotor/HT lead replacement.

In the freezing weather my T reg, 1.8 Freelander failed to start. I have replaced the Plugs, HT leads, Rotor arm and distributor cap and my Freelander now starts on the button, but idle is now very lumpy, the Amber TC and HDC warning lights are on and the throttle response is very sluggish...

'99 1.8 Freelander not starting in freezing cold.

Spoke too soon. :( Freelander now starts, but idle is very lumpy, the Amber TC and HDC warning lights are on and the throttle response is very sluggish. Not sure what the problem is now.
