Feathers I think it's the age of the D2 just playing on my mind a little, an 04 being the newest I could buy, is still knocking on almost 14 yrs old. I've no issue getting my hands dirty so no worries there. And budget wise, a good D2 (say 4k) will leave me with enough to put away 'in case' and...

I'm currently looking at upgrading my estate family/work bus with a LR. Now I really like the D3, but a few nice low-ish mileage D2's have caught my eye. It will carry tools during the week, then family & dog on days out at weekend, and trips down south to see family and for camping holidays etc...

where do i position the jack, and do i need to remove any other fixings or will i be ok with just the 2 im replacing? also how easilly does the body lift?

i'm replacing the rear mounting brackets, and read on here that i need to lift the body to weld them . . . . how do i do this please

i'll try a new filter, and as a rule I do drive carefully, for fuel economy more than anythin, so i'll give it a bit when i'm out next:). I havn't got the printout with me to check either:(

its on a P plate so does it have a cat ? never took much notice and i aint going to check as its ****in' down:) also i changed the oil + filter in MAY so not that long ago....

ha yeah, i guessed that bit.....what is/could be the cause?

My 300tdi failed its MOT and i'd just like a diagnosis as to one of the fails please - '' EXHAUST EMITS AN EXCESSIVE LEVEL OF METERED SMOKE FOR A TURBO CHARGED ENGINE '' anyone any ideas thanks

thanks for that, I'm gonna give it a go today. 1 thing though, I'm not great mechanicaly, so if i take the belt off, will that not affect the timing???

when i start up my 300tdi, there's a real annoying squeek that speeds up when you press the go pedal, now i think its belt related and have sprayed a bit of trusty WD40 on the tensioner, now this cures the noise for a bit then it returns to **** me off some more:mad: can i change the tensioner...

to be honest i'm not realy that clued up:confused:, could you be a little more descriptive please. i had a look underneath whilst somone turned the wheel, the tyres didn't appear to be catching, so maybe it could be the CV joint

....led on my back and peering into the engine bay absolutley cluless, can anyone advise me as to what the strange grinding/rubbing noise is when i put my left hand lock on in my 96 disco???
