    help needed!

Only just seen this. I had my first Defender when I was 17, I am now on about my 12th Defender, and now 43 years old. You work it out lol. 3 things to remember about a Defender. 1, its not a dent, its character, 2, if you get it stuck, YOUR driving it wrong, and 3, if it doesn't leak oil, there...

Is there a TD5 Throttle conversion?

Thanks guys, as much as I love my Land rovers, I don't trust sensors. Cant beat a good old fashioned cable affair. At least if a cable breaks you can wind the throttle open a bit to get you home ;-)

Thanks mate, is there a part that is common to go then? That way I can get a spare to keep in the car. Thanks for your advice.

Is there a TD5 Throttle conversion?

As the title suggests, does anyone know of a cable conversion kit for the defender TD5? Mine is a 2000. It has the electronic throttle, but I just don't trust it! If it went tits up, I assume I am stranded. If anyone knows of such a conversion, could you please send me the link to it? Thanks in...

    TDI to TD5 or Isuzu?

Not What u want to hear, but I would stick with the TDi. I Just drove my TD5 back from Germany and felt sick with the MPG I was getting. I remember my old TDi getting nearly 500 miles on a run. This TD5 did only 420 miles wilh a full tank AND 2 x 20 LTR JERRY CANS!!!!!! I was wishing I had a...

Juddering and clunking noises on 90.

The prop idea from big ginger beard is a good one. Take the props off one at a time, diff lock in and take it for a drive. And if you have taken one of the props off, its ok to drive on the road, and you wont get wind up. I raced my 90 in 2WD when it threw a prop. Still came 3rd lol.

    help needed!

Have you thought what caused the problem in the first place? I'm taking a guess, that maybe you have something else wired into the lighting circuit that burned out your wires. Spotlights wired straight to the high beam maybe? Just putting the thought in your head, in case you get it sorted, and...

Juddering and clunking noises on 90.

This was part of my reply earlyer. As I said, please dont take this the wrong way mate, I assume your a landrover veteran and you do know that ALL landrovers will clunk a bit if you havnt mastered the fine art of clutch and throttle control? If you drive a new landrover and throttle on and...

320 miles on a full tank!? 1999 Deisel TD5 defender. Thats not good.

My defender is a 110 TD5. She did 320 miles to the full 70ltr tank. Nearly all of that was on the motorway at 60-70 ish. Didnt thrash her at all. So, she is thirsty on fuel. I have changed the fuel and air filter. Is there anything else that would make her so thirsty? And no, I dont have a fuel...

Juddering and clunking noises on 90.

Ok, not the clutch plate then. Ok try this. Again, get someone under it (Behind the rover and close to the back axle) foot brake on, (not handbrake) FIRST! gear, and lift the clutch pedal to biting point to take up the backlash in the transmission, nearly till the engine stalls. Keep moving the...

Juddering and clunking noises on 90.

Another point is, you clutch will still give drive as the plate itself is still there. Its the springs in the middle of the plate. Look at a pic of a clutch plate. You will see what I mean.

Juddering and clunking noises on 90.

Also, with the Tbox in neutral, and you still have the clunk. That at least rules out the diffs and props.

Juddering and clunking noises on 90.

Well as I said. The clutch plate springs do exactly that. As you take up drive, they cusion the imedate drive from the flywheel/pressure plate. If the springs were gone the two faces the spring would sit on, slam clossed (as if the springs were not there or broken that is) and when you let off...

Slight missfire @ low revs 1999 TD5 Drfender

Hi again guys, and thanks for your advice. I sent this message to johnlad too. I looked at the red ecu plug under the seat. It was bone dry. I am a bit confused how oil would get there. It goes from the engine bay, under the tunnel, up the loom. The outer loom casing stops with 3 inches of...

Slight missfire @ low revs 1999 TD5 Drfender

Thanks, I will look in the morning. If the ecu is under the drivers seat, how would oil get to that? Can it seep through the cable?
