    New Engine Needed!

I went for a Turner replacement when my 2000 V8 went the same way! Total bill including the engine came to around £5500, but I'm very happy with the result :D What a difference - just goes to show how poor the old engine was! Hope it all goes well for you.

    range rover diesel conversion

I know it's a lot of money, but having just had a new top hat linered 4.6 from Turners fitted I can recommend this route. By the time you've paid for the diesel lump and sorted all of the ancilliaries and electricals, you may well end up spending just as much! I'd follow advice on here -...

    P38 Over heating

My 2000 4.6 Vogue had similar issues. A long story short - it turned out to be a slipped liner. The fix - a new engine! But, like you, I'd already done so much to the RR that it would've been crazy to scrap it all! Good luck....

    recovery insurence imperitive !

Just noticed your location - it may be worth talking to Simon at Lewis 4x4 in Neath. They specialise in Land Rover and I've always found them very helpful.

    recovery insurence imperitive !

After considering the options, I was lucky eniugh to be able to go the new top hat liner route when mine dropped a liner. In all it cost me £5.5k - new engine £3.6K plus removal/refitting etc. Not a cheap fix, but a very good one! I hope i've now got a very good P38 - in two years it's had all...

    p38 overheating...

I had very similar problems with my 2000 V8 also on LPG. Overheated on 2 occasions - both after a good run when I'd been stopped for a few minutes :(. Changed the expansion cap and the radiator, had the block pressure tested and "sniff" tested - all ok. At this time, I was topping the coolant up...

    p38 overheating/coolant issues

The engine from Turner Engineering was £3270 all in. I'm adding new coils, leads and plugs. I don't know how much the labour to remove the old engine and re-fit the new one comes to yet!

    p38 overheating/coolant issues

Have had similar problems with mine over the last year. Turned out to be a slipped liner . The problm got steadily worse and ended up with a misfire on cylibnder 7. The plug was rusty and when the engine was stripped, no.7 was steam cleaned! New engine with top-hat liners ordered from...

    New battery

Hi Growler I think I'm going to need a new battery very soon - got the current one on charge after it totally discharged last week! Could you let me know which battery you've fitted? I've been looking for one to replace mine, but have failed to find one to match the size!

    Lpg

I was getting around 20-22 on petrol before the conversion. I'm not doing anything unusual - regular servicing (including the lpg set up), sensible (not overly cautious) driving etc. I've rarely got less than 240 miles from a tank of LPG!:)

    Lpg

Hi Kev I've consistently got around 260 miles from 74/75 litres of LPG since mine was converted just over a year ago. I know it's been consistent because the LPG gauge is predictably unreliable, and I use the mileage as a guide to the amount of LPG left in the tank!:)

    Towing in lower height range

OK - so I'm going to use a plate to reduce the height of the ball and then lock the suspenion in standard height mode when towing! Simples!:)

    Towing in lower height range

Hi Wammers - I'm not questioning why the suspension changes height - it makes perfect sense. What I would like to understand is why you wouldn't want it to do the same when towing the caravan. In my experience it worked well when towing, making the outfit more stable at motorway speeds.

    Towing in lower height range

Thanks Fanatic - Yes I've read the manual where it says you should leave it in standard height. I'm just sharing my experience. Unfortunately, the manual doesn't explain WHY you should leave it in standard height!

    Lpg

Yes - I do know how to work it out! I've always monitored my fuel useage since buying my first car back in 1984! Number of miles travelled from full ( I always fill to the top and re-set the trip) and number of litres taken to re-fill! Most of the towing was on the motorway (West Wales to...

    Lpg

No argument from me - I don't know why/how I manage to get 22mpg, but I do. "Normal" driving (not afraid to press the right hand pedal when I need to), regular servicing for the RR and the LPG setup. The Rangie's now done 111K miles. The 22mpg on petrol was on the run back from the south coats...

    Towing in lower height range

Since having the Rangie, I've tried it both ways. On our first run to France with the caravan, I locked the suspension in "normal" mode - the van was roughly level but didn't feel stable at motorway speeds. I checked the noseweight etc. but all was as it should be. On our second trip to...

    V8 MPG.....What ya getting.

Over the last 12k miles between 20-22mpg on LPG - mainly over runs of between 25-100 miles, with some local, around-town driving.:D

funky blinker outage electric issue P38

Hi Dirk Datatek is right - I have an aftermarket hitch and wiring loom. The connections are direct into the RR loom behind the trim on both left and right side of the vehicle. Sounds like your installer didn't know the P38!
