    Tiny is being traded in...sob...

All the years on this site and still dunno how to post pics! Quick tutorial for the lesser PC orientated? Yeah Ming, end of an era. Many happy years (8 to be precise) of ownership and many fun miles. Lots of fun hours with the socket set and squeezing a few extra BHP out of the old girl...

    Tiny is being traded in...sob...

Sad news folks. At a grand old age of 10 and 185000 miles since her birth in Stratons of Knutsford I am sad to say that Tiny is being traded in. Nothing wrong with her (still) but time for a change of car after 8 happy years of ownership. If you live in the north west and see a gold XEDI for...

    Bleeding brakes!

Quick tip - slide a tight fitting drill bit down the inside of the nipple when you try and loosen it. It stops the nipple from collapsing inwards and stops em snapping.

    Mintex Brakes....

Let me guess - Bottom pin? They tend to carry all the salt water n crap and turn into summat looking like on of the guns on the Bismarck - red rusty! Tiny has the Mintex extreme pads and she stops on a dime from a squillion miles an hour. :)

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

Tiny is a 98 XEDI and has been running very happily on veg oil for over 3 years now (80/20 mix veg/derv). She is currently pushing the 170,000 mile mark so fear not - get the chips out! I usually change to 50/50 if the weather has a cold snap and 100 derv in the bleak mid winter with no probs...

    Centre consol lid

Yeah you are missing a little clip that snaps the lid shut. Tried a sticky pad to stop the rattling?

    holding high revs please help

Thinking ECU myself. The L series does have a habit of swallowing the small resistors on the MAF! To be honest the MAF should not make much difference as they do not effect things like they do on the TD4. I would be tempted to check there are no oil leaks around the turbo 1st though. It could be...

I've got some spare knocking around if you want it? Send me your address via private message and I will pop it in the post for ya.;) ;) Failing that - if you have an ebay account - this is the stuff you want. Diesel leak off pipe & blanking cap on eBay, also, Vauxhall Opel, Car Parts...

    My Freelander Shakes

Have you checked that the U shaped washers are both there? If they fall out you have a very wobbly prop shaft. Check the bolts that join the shaft to the VCU - if they are lose you may have lost yer washers!

    1998 XeDi Freelander overrun

1st - yes XEDI's have a turbo. 2nd - yes this sounds like "screaming death" where the oil seals in yer turbo go "pop" and the landy starts drinking the contents of the sump. not good :(

    Freelander Faults poll

1998 XEDI Clock display needed 99p worth of nokia screen elastomers to fix. Broken downpipe bracket replaced by £2.99 exhaust clamp and angle iron. IRD buggered after a garage replaced a leaky oil seal with a TD4 part which fell out. Rear diff bracket replaced in 2003. Clutch replaced in...

Is anyone out there happy with their FL ??

Tiny the L series S reg TDI has now covered in excess of 178,000 miles and I am still as happy with her as the moment I bought her. Granted she has needed a new servo (£90) recently and a few other bits and bobs but I consider this reasonable for her age and miliage. I must admit - I do read...

    scraping brake

My money is on the family circle tin lid on the back called the "dust sheild" sneeze too close to them and they warp and rub on the disk. All it takes is for someone to be careless when changing the pads and the sheild will make a right racket. Sometimes on heavy braking, sometimes on light...
