    Series 3 Heater fan

So I am replacing the motor part of the heater assembly and need to remove the fan from the existing spindle. Does the metal collar just prise open? or do the plastic wedges need to be prised upwards? or am I missing something?? Cheers

    Series 3 wiring curiousity

1974 Ex-mil 109 rag top I have a curious little button switch type thing that I don't even know where to begin to investigate: It's the lower one - the round one that gets me (t'other is the brake test switch) I can't even tell if its a micro-switch or a press/hold doodah. Its not short...

    Daihatsu 2.8 Turbo Diesel

Anyone got any knowledge of, or experience with, these engines? I am trying to find out the age/model so that I can change the timing belt before rebuilding the body around it. o_O

    Bonnet fitments

So, Series 3 109 ex military 1974 Bonnet thereof: I get the bonnet fasteners, I get the hinges, I get the ties down points for the spare wheel webbing, I even assume that the 4 bolts are what is left over after the removal of the spare wheel mount, but what I can't figure is the copper...

    Introducing Sergeant Cash

Yes, another Series 3 project (making use of all the others so i know what (not) to do ):D Ex-military S3 109, circa 1974, released into civvie st in 1995. Overall condition not bad for His age, but a few issues needing addressed: Canvas – porous to say the least. Extra lights and such...

    fpr removal

Finally found an hour or two free for replacing the fpr on Hulk. Bolts undid ok. Connection to the fuel cooler was a nightmare which involved removing said cooler and butchering the old connector. Everything now ready for the actual removal. How much force should this take? fpr seems...

    Add a turbo, or...

change the engine? My daughter is about to come into a nice old campervan for using when working on digs around the uk - mainly Orkney. It is a 1999 Vauxhall Arena - rebadged version of the early Renault Trafic. Nothing much wrong with the camper aspects or the body and chassis in general...

    Sill repair panels

Ok, so I reckon this topic is suited to any/all land rover types, although my own case is a Discovery 2, hence my decision to post here. I am in the final stages of a D2 re-chassis project and have now reached the "preparing for mot" stage. Accordingly I took the chance to investigate the...

    D2 Brake servo valve

Brittle plastic syndrome! So I broke the connector to the brake servo, and have found the following: ANR6916 being the pipe from the alternator to the brake servo https://www.island-4x4.co.uk/hose-vacuum-with-genuine-anr6916-p-37461.html and: STC493 - being the valve on pre-TD5 models...

    D2 Front flexi brackets

So the front flexi on the D2 has a "middle" bit for fitting in the bracket at the bottom of the spring holder. I see that there are 2 distinct pipes available from Island4x4 as per the pics below. One type seems to have the bracket already attached (along with the one at the top end) whereas...

    Disco 2 Rearmost wiring loom

I have already asked this within my chassis replacement thread but thought it might reach a wider audience as a standalone thread. :) Now - wiring. I know that with the @fenders we have done at work it has been necessary to disconnect all rear-end electrics and feed the loom back along the old...

    D2 chassis replacement

Introducing my 2002 Disco 2. Being a big, green, mean machine, the family naturally christened her “Hulk”. We have had her since 2012 and with only 112k miles, she is barely run in. She is, however, a D2…and as such has a few problems in the chassis department. The fun began in 2014 when the...

    Sad times ahead

So Hulk has failed his MOT - chassis issues surprisingly (not!) As of Friday he will be sorned pending a new chassis (sob). Replacement vehicle has been organised, so for the foreseeable we will be slumming it in a Honda CR-V - 57 plate, 74k miles, good nick, slightly lower road tax...
