Winter tyres / wheel off set

If its the same as mine its not the stop bolts - as far as I understand it when they put the alloys on all of the extra width went inside the body which has meant the turning circle is truly awful! That's why I'm looking for info about the offset rims because it moves the rubber away from the...

Winter tyres / wheel off set

Evening, Not been here for a while so hope this question is OK. I've also looked for a recent post on this but can't find anything younger than about 2015 so hopefully the question is ready to be asked again! So two issues. I have a 2010 110 with the factory alloys on it. The turning circle...

    Ride quality??

Thank you - I'll have a look at the chassis bushes.

    Ride quality??

Thanks for the reply. Turrets were on a different vehicle - sorry for the confusion. A 1996 that I've used around the farm for the last 10 years so I wasn't surprised that the turrets went. Tyres are original spec alloys and general grabbers. I am going to swap them anyway as they are at the...

    Ride quality??

Now I realise that this will seem a stupid question unless I say that i have owned landrovers for 20 years and have grown up with them since I was 4. I've just bought a 2010 110 crew cab van (so front and middle rows of seats but no seats or windows at the back). The ride is incredibly strange...

    Brake servo one way valve

Just North of Luton. Mother-in-law lives in Wrexham though if it helps. I will google those part numbers now - thanks.

    Brake servo one way valve

Tonight, with a fairly, but I wouldn't say excessive bout of enthusiasm I tried to remove the one way valve that goes into the brake servo (comes out and then at right angles to the servo so facing down). I thought it might be blocked or sticking. The outlet pipe snapped off. I've looked at...

    Thread sizes

On reflection, was that simply that the forum will not help - hence 'no'? Seems a little harsh if that was the intention, after all is this not a collaborative forum?

    Thread sizes

Before you start I'll state that I'm being lazy!!!! However I know that you guys will know this off the top of your heads. Can you tell me the thread sizes on a 1987 90V8: a). The female threads on the fuel filter - the little filter on the out rigger underneath the bulkhead. b). The...

V8 Exhaust outside chassis rails - stupid idea?

I spent a lot of time considering the merits in having two exhausts going up either side of the windscreen - like truck stacks. It would be very easy to do and would avoid a lot of pfaffing and would look fantastic. However, given that I want to drive it (an not just take to meets on a trailer...

Can anyone identify this adapter plate?

No expert on these things so I am more than likely talking b*ll*x / have misunderstood your post but that looks like an adapter plate for the bell housing to engine interface rather than the bell housing to gearbox interface. Have you tried taking the bell housing off your old box and seeing if...

My rebuild thread! 3.9 disco v8

HI Ben, The whole, might as well do this because its on a stand is a very slippery slope.... Moving stuck bolts - I have a meter long breaker bar that I use on really stubborn bolts. Amazing what a bit of leverage can do. Obviously you've got to be careful not to shear them off but to a...

At least snow was useful for something - Coolant leak

I'd go for the water pump bearings first if it has been doing it for a while, not got any worse and is only trickling out. Hoses, gaskets and the like have a habit of providing quite a lot of water and they tend to get worse quite quickly as they are under pressure.

3.5l V8 Oil light flickering at high RPM

Not sure of the arrangement on the LDV, but if this is the standard 3.5l the oil pump gears are in the timing cover and the bottom face (the bit that gets badly scored) is bolted on to the bottom. The pressure switch is screwed into that bit. Its brass and has a blade terminal on it (with a...

    help please v8 none runner

Pretty much - its all pretty straightforward stuff. My money would be on something having got damp. Do as suggested and let us know the results.

    help please v8 none runner

Not really too much to these engines. Given that it has been running its unlikely to be anything in the mechanics as something that stops it running suddenly would normally have more sinister symptoms - loud inappropriate noises for instance! You are also getting fuel by the sounds of it too...

4.4 rv8 build thread (Doc evil need not post)

Hi Sam, I know - I've just done the same in another one!! The reason I say it though is probably because of my experience in kit cars rather than Landys - it took 3 days to get the engine and gearbox out of the Cobra and it will take longer to get back. I realise its easier than that on...

    Finally decided to rebuild!

Personally I wouldn't go near a kit. Until you strip it down and decide what you need to do to it / want to do to it you won't know what you'll need and I'd pretty much guarantee that you'll end up with a pile of bits from a kit that you won't use. It's pretty unlikely for instance that you'll...
