I dont know much about V8's but my 300tdi turned out to be a blocked heater matrix, if thats blocked then it stops the flow of water through the engine. Bitch of a job to do.

Sorry to open up old threads, i went looking for the gower lane earlier. i started up the entrance to parc le breos until i came to a small car park for the Parkland park. Off the car park was a track with a green barrier across the front but not padlocked, is this the start of the said lane.

Not strictly today but on thursday i chopped the front bumper on my disco and fitted some Ring fogs in place of the rotten water filled ones that were there previously.

Take the header cap off run it and see if its frothy, any white smoke. Mine was a sneaky one as it was the block and not the head. It doesn't sound as bad as mine was, i was topping up with between 4 and 5 litres every 2/3 days.

My opinion but i took mine off as they look ****, also combined you are adding an extra 25 kilo's of unneccesary weight to an already heavy car. Unless you have difficulties getting into or out of your disco i would do as suggested and dump them, or like i did and swap them with another forum...

Any significant water loss or white smoke out of the exhaust. Your matrix could be blocked causing bad or lack of flow af the coolant around the system, take one hose off the matrix end and see if any water is flowing out.

Nadgers, should have done my homework, sold the edc injector for 15quid on fleabay. No wonder he was so desperate for me to send.

Matrix could be effed as it may not have had water running through it if it was driven with a knackered head so may have clogged up and rusted. I had to change mine when i had same head issues, bastard of a job but rewarding when you get warm air and water flow.

The guy who fiited my engine said he took the 4th injector out and swapped it for one from my old one as i didnt need the edc thing, i think its the first one from the pump. Its the one with the wire in the pic.

If needed i have an injection pump for an automatic that i took/swapped off my donor engine. Its off a later "S" reg 300tdi with EDC i also have 3 spare injectors (just sold the one with EDC wire on), if you need any of the parts give me a pm.

I couldnt believe the weight of them when i took them off mine, 22kgs of extra weight just so the kids can get in better, well i say ****em cant wait to see how they try and get in when its had a lift.
