Found this underneath the landrover! Should i be worried?

Found this underneath the lannie (mid-section not sure exactly) which is on my drive (so not just some random car off the street). Has something dropped out? Or is it just some random thing?

    Steel Wheel Overhaul

Took me a while but I finally got the time and the weather window to sort out my rusty wheels. It was a session with the dremel and drill sander, rust treatment and primers etc. But I got there in the end.

    Galv. Rear Crossmember Installed!

Well folks, I made the jump and joined the ranks of the galvanized with my new, freshly forged/cast rear crossmember! :) Took the mechy a while, but I think he did a good job of it. Some issues: The galv. process saw that there were no threads for the towing array to be mounted onto (the part...

Windscreen seals - Easy to fit or Garage job?

Will be getting the seals changed on my 110 soon, but not sure whether to throw money at the garage or have a go myself. Anyone done this solo or is it best left to the mechy and his apprentice?

    Anyone installed a 'Roamer Driver'?

Apparently these are the whizz for economical driving and quieter engine noise on motorways, A Roads etc. They look more for the 200 Tdi Engines and is a transmission job / upgrade.

    I Bent the Wheel Brace!

Well I sourced a cheap breaker bar to try and get the stubborn wheel nuts off. Only cost me 2 quid from the scrappers. Took it home, got stuck in to the nuts. 4 of the 5 were alright and cracked open not a problem. But one (there's always one) was too tight and actually bent the bloody wheel...

    Steel Wheel Overhaul

Well my Lannie's steel wheels look rough and flaky as the climate of our isles takes its toll. So I decided to get them spruced up a bit. I have no wheel removal machine so will have to take a bit of care not to mess the tyres up. This is the first tyre on the hopper to get done.

    Defender 300 TDI Quirks.

Thought I'd start this thread about the quirks of the Defender, namely the 300 TDI one. 1. Stored Defender for several months, battery disconnected. Reconnect battery, I find the immobilizer isn't doing its job ie I can start the thing with the keys and no need to dongle the immobilizer to get...

Are Landrover 200 and 300 TDI Engines still being made?

Just wondering with the end of the Defender if there are enough companies to keep the legacy vehicles going. My machine is getting on a bit and would be reassuring to know it's still gonna have parts available to keep on truckin'. :)

Snapped bolt on the front bumper! :(

Well I got three of the four bolts out for removing my bumper and spotlight mount steelwork. On the forth one though I unfortunately snapped the bloody bolt off. :( It seems to penetrate a threaded retaining plate so can't be yanked out. I've tried to remove the bumper but, predicatably the...

Glue for insulation on my Defender.

Trying to get a roll of thin, foil and membrane insulation to stay on the ceiling of my lannie in the back part. I've tried this in the past with spray adhesive but when it heats up, or condensation hits it, within a few months it falls down again. Does anyone have a good glue product they...

    What paint for the roof?

My lannie (300TD) has been stood a while and water pooled on the roof a bit. It's caused over time the paintwork to flake away. :( So I need advise on which is the best paint to get, I fear that 'cause it is a aluminium roof I'll need special stuff / primers etc. Thanks

    Will the new Defender have...

Metal bumpers for the farmers and outdoor folks or will it be plastic 'fantastic'? Is the diesel engine easy to work on?

Loose Crank Pulley, Risk of Engine Damage?

A garage I asked to change the timing chain on did so. A few thousand miles later the engine began running like crap. I took it to another garage and they told me that because thread-locker had not been used by the garage changing the timing chain, the crank pulley had become loose and possible...

    Stench of Mayonaisse from exhaust

The smell from the exhaust smells sickly, sweet like Mayo mixed with Diesel fumes. Anyone got an idea what this might be? Cheers

What part is this on my engine? 300 TD

It has a split in it and I need to get a replacement part. Is it easy to fit or does it require bleeding the air etc ?

Fuel Leak Nightmare. A Saga Post.

I've had an issue where there's been a leak of diesel fuel from my engine to the floor below. Not a fast leak but a slow slow leak. So I took my lannie (a Defender 110 300TD) to the local garage to have a look. They looked at the injection system and told me it needed a new one or an overhaul...

    Leaking Fuel Injection System.

Had a leak under the bonnet, just had it checked out by the garage and he confirmed it as a leak in the fuel injection system. I have a 300 TD engine with over 100,000 miles and he says it needs to be removed and overhauled. I asked him on the all-in price for such a fix and he reckons it...

    Britpart Clutches on Ebay!

Had anyone fitted and used the Britpart Clutches on a Defender? Are they any good? I know Britpart have a reputation for some mediocre stuff though... Anyone brave enough to admit if they've fitted such things to their lannie? LAND ROVER DEFENDER 200/300 TDI HEAVY-DUTY CLUTCH KIT | eBay
