There is an annoying whirring sound coming from top of engine near alternator. When I put metal rod on alternator casing and listen it sounds very corse as though bearings are worn. Is it possible to change bearings or do I need to be looking for a replacement. Alternator charges just fine. Cheers

On my 4.0 P38 2001 I have just put on a new exhaust, 2 new tyres, new front crank seal and serpentine belt. First time out it overheated and does so each time I use it. Can leave it ticking over on drive and it won't overheat. Under load it will...can't see how the jobs I did can cause this...

My P38 is very noisy on start up when cold. Sounds as though exhaust has completely blown. After about 20 seconds it quite a down then drives OK. When warm it starts OK I.e. no excessive noise. It's a 4.0 petrol, 2001 model. Any ideas? Thanks, Steve

2001 P38 4.0 Automatic Checked transmission fluid level to see if OK. With vehicle on flat I removed the filler plug from near top of sump. Oil gushed out as if being pumped.. Rave says fill till drips out of filler hole but it was above this level. How is this possible to be above filler...
