    Hi, I posted the original picture, this is a result of running the engine with a blocked filter and then removing the oil dip stick to check the oil, just remember to never check your oil with the engine running. :doh:

    Learn to do it your self, very easy, all filters and fluids using the best available just cost me £75. That included the rear diff, gear box, transfer box etc, very enjoyable and I know it is done right. :D

    gear stick and turbo

    Replace the gear linkage selector, easy job, about £35 for the part, did mine a few years ago and feel like a new gear box still. turbo should kick in at about 2000 revs I think, give it a good service and change all the filters.

    Hi, The fuel filter is located under the rear wheel arch, drivers side, and the air filter to the rear of the engine top, under the plastic cover.

    Decided not to get my hands dirty and took it to my local landrover garage, (not dealers) they only charged me £36.00 to fit them and 30 min's waiting time.

    Considering TD4 Sport??

    Hi, I have a small family and have had a td4 for many years now while they have been growing up, baby and child seats have always fitted well and it feels very safe to drive. The storage is also good and never had a problem when we needed to fit a pram in the back as well as a few suit cases...

    What oils???

    Engine oil is 4.5 litres and cooling system 5.5 litres. you will only get about 3 to 4 litres of coolant in the car as a lot gets left after draining, its very hard to get it all out.

    What oils???

    HI, The book says, Gear oil 2 litres of Texaco MTF94 or Unipart ATF JF 403E IRD 1.1 LITRES, Texaco S5 75W/90- SPEC API GL5 Rear diff 0.83 Litres, 80W/90 SPEC API GL5 Got all of my oil from the local bullseye if you have one near you, they kmew what i wanted and had it in stock. Cheers.

    td4 viscous coupling issues....

    Just to make you feel a bit worse, I have had 3 freelanders over the years and they have all felt stiff as you say while reversing on full lock but I have never had a problem with any of them, I have just accepted that that is how they feel in reverse full lock. :doh:

    Has anyone changed the rear diff mounts on td4 and if so are they easey to do or is it a garage job, i do most of my own servicing and changed the egr so not afraid to have a go, cannot find anything in the haynes manual, Thanks pete.

    Crankcase breather filter picture

    Just thought i would share this picture of what happens if the crankcase breather filter is blocked and the dip stick is removed from the car, its amazing what pressure builds up and what the damage could be, no wonder its recommended to change regularly now. :eek:

    Hi. I bought mine of ebay, 39 pound for front. No fitting instructions but very easy to fit, if you do fit them and get stuck i can send you a close up picture of the guards on the car. cheers pete.
